  1. Danny Mastropaolo listed @ 5'9" 150#s. Endres listed @ 5'9" 175#s, exact height & weight of TD on his freshman(2016) bio. Don't think being small is a real handicap for FOGO,s??
  2. LIKE the optimisms 2018 & Hof! I feel better already, THANKS. Also, forgot about the 3 weird goals in the vt game: ball falls out of stick, into goal, bad pass trickles in for a goal and the weird rebound goal. Along with Patterson's wide open break away miss. Like you say story of our season; a lot of BAD luck and I did not know about the injured freshman. Confident we will be BACK next year!
  3. Gleason redshirted 2016. Do you know if he is leaving for sure? Has another year of eligibility and I think he was at least as good as Perla and Dhuly.
  4. It is obvious too early to start a look ahead thread? But a couple of questions (for 2018 or anyone who wants to speculate): why Ramos over Yoquinto {who pre-season was in the running for #1 in goal?} why did Scott totally give up on Altimari (when Jones even healthy was only moderately successful & wings other than Weathersby last couple of games were a total bust?} TOO early to speculate on transfer-outs: Altamari [not even given a chance when everyone else failed]?? Tehoka [with the fall sabbatical, all the drama, going pro predictions---I'm guessing he stays; has a lot to prove.]?????????? ALL feel free to jump in; or wait a while if you prefer. These questions and a lot more will most certainly come-up again.
  5. I also did not go. There was a small article in Sunday's TU; basically said nothing. D beat O. Both qb's had a td and int. Local troy boys thought it was fun being "home." GG said good community outreach.
  6. As the saying goes: "Can't hit the broad side of a barn." Can't score man up or even on a clean break away. OK give some credit to the vt goalie; but shooting and man-up issue all year. As much as I love the guy, got to lay the blame on Marr for this year. How do you go from a final four to ousted in the first round of the AmEast. I will NOT argue with anyone who says I'm wrong; but team never seemed prepared for the shot clock. Again, I won't argue with anyone who says can't blame Marr; that he just did not have the horses. But IMHO I still feel this team has/had the talent to be top 20. Obviously I'm wrong. Maybe coach and players both need to share the blame. Maybe just blame Benson; after all, ALL major UA sports a bust this year. WAIT TO NEXT YEAR!! GO DANES.
  7. Is today's game pushed back. Was suppose to start at 4:30? Maybe women running long. No announcement on AmEast TV. Very unprofessional.
  8. NO complaining about the POOR quality and constant interruptions and Delays. Very willing to pay $5 a month for the superior ESPN streams!
  9. Reprinted from Lacrosse as I know many on this blog do not follow the Lax thread: Not sure exactly where to post this; but whatever happened to AmericaEast TV being ON the ESPN family of networks?? I know there was a blog thread going when it was announced that most/alot of AmEast was being moved from ESPN3/U to ESPN+. Anyhow, I ponied up my $4.99 per month and good% of AmEast games including today's Lax semi-finals are and have not been on the espn family. Crucial games vs vt and brook were not on while minor games like hartford vs bingo were??????? I do not follow the AmEast blog. Anyone who does; notice any conversation about this ESPN "breach" of contract?

  11. 2018, Very early on you stated brook was a very good team. I was skeptical; you were RIGHT. In the vermont game, UA pretty much gave them the game. brook pretty much took the game from UA. So to me it is pretty obvious: Play with PASSION {missing @ brook} and without the errors {numerous @ vt.} If you noticed the box score from brook, UA won most of the statistical categories except face-offs [won ground balls, clears, shots, less turnovers.] IMHO UA is still far superior to either brook or vt. Can they play with passion and boise?? I do not know; they have simply been a mystery to me all year. They obviously have issues @ the X; but so have they had for years (minus TD.) D has been excellent @ times, but seems to break down over time and over long and too many defensive possessions. The O seems to struggle against zones. Both of these imho are the result of the shot clock. To me the answer is obvious: Get back to traditional UA LACROSSE. Ignore the clock, push the pace, two way middies, attacks attack, aggressive D that GETS the ball. Maybe it is too late for this and I''m not the coach, so what do I know??
  12. Reading the quotes and tv interviews before the game and today, concluded this team is ALL talk and NO action. Scott is such a positive person and I would never second guess him; but I think what this team needed this year is MORE a$$ kicking and less build-up. Scott is loyal to a fault and again I have ZERO right to be critical; but I simply do not understand the player rotations and experiments from game to game. The fact that the team is still experimenting with line-ups games 12&13 of the season is disturbing. Attack and midfield has been in constant flux, while the defense who never lived up to pre-season expectations has gone mostly un-changed. While I am being unqualifiedly critical, it has been pretty obvious since fall ball that this would be somewhat of a rebuilding year. Perhaps at some point this should have been accepted and the process begun in earnest. Also, this team has NOT adapted well to the shot clock and zone defenses which the clock has made prominent. IMHO, this is the case both offensively {where we have been slow and ineffective 6 on 6.} and defensively {where we seem to get grinded down by the "SLOW and METHODICAL PACE" the clock seems to inspire.} UA was built on quick two way middies, aggressive attacks, and defenses (even when fogo's were bad) that worked at going after the ball to get it back to the offense and not waiting for a clock to get it for them. As I said before, I for one am very un-happy with the shot clock. Unfortunately I think we are stuck with it , and only offer PERHAPS we would be better off playing UA lacrosse in spite of the clock??????? I have NOT given up on this team and do not suggest they have or should have; but I am not sure we would have done any worse by going younger and letting the kids take some lumps.
  13. Without HOME cities and with one owner owning all the teams and all the players, feels like exhibitionism, rather than a league [IMHO.] Cannot see this surviving for long? Speaking of exhibitionism; I guess it works for the WWF. And the league says they are using the nascar model of rotating events and hosts. Even IF you accept the WWF and nascar as "sport", they both are basically individual competitions. Not sure the concept carries well to TEAM sports and leagues. Thoughts and opinions more than welcomed!
  14. I LIKE your attack line-up a lot. I posted in Yale preview I thought Paterson should go back to the four and LIKE how you would negotiate this. Wondering if Laffin is hurt? As far as I recall he appeared once on man-up Friday and pretty much that was it. I think your assessment on Casey is also right-on. And besides being slow of foot and not mobil, his accuracy is terrible, especially on the move. Put him back as middie where he can get planted and use his hard shot more accurately. {He missed two or three wide open nets Friday while trying to shoot on the run.}
  15. yale goalie made some great saves early, or this game might have been a lot closer. That being said, UA missed a number of wide open nets. I do not know if they were trying to be too perfect with their shots, because how well the yale goalie was playing. It seemed UA was over faking on shots and when they finally let it go, they just shot it right at the goalie or totally wide. Maybe we just forgot how to shoot?? UA defense played great; IF they played all year like they played yesterday this game "would have" had at large implications. It seems in the games when the offense was clicking the defense was bad and vica-versa. Like Hof said IF IF IF! Looking for brook to take down an overrated vermont team today.
  16. Agree and Agree with lack of Dodging from Laffin and Casey. Casey came as a middie and perhaps he would add an outside shooting option. Laffin also seems to have a powerful outside shot, but like you, I like him around the crease. Both Burgmasters have shown in the past the ability to score from the outside. Noah Taylor and Peter Schwab have shown alittle this year from up top. Yunker and McComber really are the best dodgers and at some point will get over the freshman turnover jitters. Of course it means ZERO, but I'd use Tehoka-Laffin-Yunker/McComber on attack; Patterson @ the 4; and hope Eccles gets his shot back and role with some of the above middies and take my chances. {also don't know what the situation with Davis Diamond is but he has/had shown signs of being a good feeder and on dodger?????}
  17. I am a little late to the conversation. When I was reading this blog this am, I was a little surprised about how negative the comments were on yesterday's game. So I wanted to re-watch before posting myself. I came away from the game thinking UA played pretty well overall; and after re-watching I still think it was a plus UA effort. If there was/is any negative IMHO it was the shooting was off. Eccles and Nanticoke missed 26 shots between them (15E -11N.) Eccles did hit the post twice and the score and game would not have been close, with a little better shooting. Many have mentioned that bc's zone had a negative impact on UA, but I also saw it as UA taking what bc was giving--the outside shot. If bc isn't much of a team, the one thing they do well is play defense, so some credit there for sure. But a little more accuracy and the game would not have been as close as it was. Our D played well, only allowing 7 goals. In the day of the shot clock, even against a bad team, that is a good day IMHO. That said I'm not impressed by the shot clock at all and for me, the constant subbing and using every bit of the clock trying to get off the "perfect" shot has slowed the game and made the game less, NOT more interesting/exciting. Anyhow, my other thought on the game, & others in my area seemed to agree; it may be time to end the Nanticoke as fourth attack experiment. While it has been relatively successful and may have kept Tehoka from getting killed, IMHO I think we need him full time on attack, mixing it up inside and creating for others. I'd bring Patterson back as the 4th, where he always seemed more comfortable. And Nanticoke inside can draw more penalties, like he did yesterday to clinch. {of course he has to be careful of his temper and not retaliate & negate the man up advantage.}
  18. DP. To the leader of our blog. CONGRATULATIONS DAD! And of course to MOM also.
  19. I don't think there is "quit" in this team. There is talent on this team, but the inconsistency is maddening. Patterson has a couple of great games and then disappears for two or three. Same for Laffin. Davis Diamond has one great game and then we hardly see him the rest of the year. Tehoka stars and vanishes from 1/2 to 1/2. Has Eccles forget how to score all of a sudden? The young kids look good one second and confused the next [duh they are young.] Defensively they look awesome for long stretches and then seem to melt into the background. The key here is long stretches, they just seem to be on the field too long too much. This is the first year of the shot clock and it seems other teams get multiple resets per game and UA almost none. {I wonder if there is a stat on this to confirm??} "For Life" is right, it seems there are/is no clear leaders. "HOF" right, FOGO has been/is an issue all year. Even Jones has been no better than OK. I think the bottom line is UA does not win enough face-offs, is poor on ground balls and turns the ball over too often: Resulting in NOT enough possessions and too many and too long possessions for our opponents. And, I maybe totally off base when I say Marr seems to lack his usual "fire." Seems to be accepting of this teams inconsistencies.Can't seem to light a fire in these guys this year. I Do Not think he or the team has quit, but maybe he/they just don't have it in them {for whatever reason} to get things fixed? HOPE I'M WRONG!!!!!!!
  20. HOF, Thanks for the fogo updates. Mastropaolo listed on video as 5' 9" 150lbs. Height OK for a fogo, but a + few pounds would be nice. Video gives hope!
  21. You would "think" the posting would have included something of a desire to upgrade said facility???????
  22. Is Jones hurt? Not that he has been very good; but he has been hovering around 50%, even though he does turn it over a lot after winning. Inside Lacrosse had Altamari as # 6 fogo in country when he was recruited; so maybe not just Marr wrong about him?? What happened to him? Russell showed a lot of promise until his injury. Also, not giving up or looking too far ahead, but any further info about "TOP" fogo recruit out of the island for next year?? Notice very highly rated fogo from TD's high school still listed for 2020--I hope we do not have to wait that long for help.
  23. OK if you say so. Credit vt hustle if you want to. But MANY UA turnovers were unforced. We can agree UA just BAD. IMHO you and vt announcers giving vt more credit then they deserve. You are certainly entitled.
