  1. UAlbany down by only 1 point at the half?! Unbelievable!! My goal for the game was to have just one little lead!
  2. The Sports Network provided an analysis of today's UAlbany-UConn game and predicted we would lose 88-63. The analysis seems quite fair. Here is the link: http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform...ive/pv27156.htm The article labels UAlbany as "gritty." So from now on we can call ourselves the Albany Grit Danes.
  3. Syracuse lost a game it should have won last night. This loss and other Big East poor performances yesterday give me hope against UConn tonight. How does it feel to be the only remaining team from New York State left in the NCAA?
  4. Florida (#3 seed) just beat South Alabama (# 4) by 26 points, 76-50. UAlbany lost to Florida by only 19. Maybe we should not be a # 16 seed.
  5. How about a couple repetitions of "Laptop, Lapdog," to the rhythm of "Let's go dancing," as performed by UAlbany fans at the AE conference final. Lapdogs = we're not afraid of those Huskies. But then again, if I have to explain it . . .
  6. This week and year have really been great. Here's one example of how fortunes have changed for UAlbany men's basketball. I can barely keep up with developments on this forum. Dane Pound, thanks again for all you do to keep this site up. It is really helpful to those of us who do not reside right in the Capital District. I have heard a couple comments on scheduling for next year. For the first time in our short history, we will be playing schools who want to meet us to raise their RPI's. Before anyone jumps on me for that comment, I know that Utah Valley State agreed to come here this reason partly for that reason, but that game was a one-time phenomenon. In the future, there will be many more schools who will want to have us on their OOC schedule for that reason. Now, I'm also realistic. We are now and will continue to schedule teams like UCLA and UConn who will help us prepare for the conference season and beyond. But what a change from the not-too-distant past.
  7. Cool! Really cool! Now I can finally share this scene with people who could not be there and with people who don't understand. Thanks so much!
  8. Anyone see the sendoff the UAlbany community gave to the team on the way to Philly? Did many people attend?
  9. Sarge, I don't take offense at your original remarks on this topic at all. On the contrary, I have the greatest sympathy for your plight. I apologize if I came on too strong. We are on the same side of this issue as to whether season ticket holders should be entitled to some of the available seats. I think we are misunderstanding each other. I know that the university officials must have been overwhelmed by requests from all over the UAlbany community for tickets. That being said, I am surprised that the athletic office did not explain the general situation to all season ticket holders by email of the ticket availability today. Several times during the day I checked my email and answering machine for communications from the ticket office. Like the rest of the season ticket holders who have posted here on the topic, nobody seems to have heard anything either about availability. All I was saying was that in light of no response from the non-student posters here, maybe we should wait one more day to see how things were shaking out. Once again, I apologize for any misunderstanding I had with you on your first comments on this topic. I really hope you receive the opportunity to go to Philly!
  10. Sarge, I hope you are very wrong with your implication that season ticket holders will not have access to the game. Like you, I have been a fan of the Danes twice as long as some students are old. All I can say right now is: Be patient! Your quotation says that all tickets "have been accounted for." Last week it was announced that all tickets for the Vermont game had been sold by noon on Tuesday. Hours later we heard that 1,000 tickets purchased by corporations (a move which we have inadequately praised here on this board, IMO) would be made available to the students by Saturday morning. I am going to think that the school will be opening up a sizeable allotment of tickets to the loyal ticket holders. I think some university official said that 350 to 550 ticket would be made available to each school. If the university made only 100 available to the students, that means a sizeable number of tickets should be available to others in the UAlbany community. For your sake, I hope I am right.
  11. As one of my friends just stated, UConn will really be seeking revenge when we play them at their place next season.
  12. I have an unanswered question about the game yesterday. I know that the University was supposed to set up a big screen TV in the old gym to handle the overflow crowd. Does anyone have any idea how many people watched the game there? Since none of the many articles about the game mentioned the option, I am assuming that not many people were interested in that option. Fans who made inside the RACC were denied the opportunity to exit the facility and could not verify attendance at the optional site.
  13. UAlbany's first Division I male winter track All-American came in 5th today at the Track & Field championships in Arkansas. http://www.albany.edu/sports/mens/itrack/index.html Congratulations to Gered and Coach Vives.
  14. Dane96, I'm really glad you had a great day with the Great Danes! It must have been really cool to meet former players, coaches, members of this board. It must have felt like a super homecoming. Kinda makes you forget all the hassles of passing the bar exam. Hope you make it back to many more UAlbany games - where the RACC is at or near capacity.
  15. Here's what the Yahoo summary said about the crowd today: "Vermont (13-17), which stunned Syracuse in overtime in the first round of last year's NCAA tournament, was seeking its fourth straight NCAA berth, but faced daunting odds as the sixth seed. And the raucous sellout crowd of 4,538 made the task a lot more difficult. "A half-hour before tipoff, the fans were frantically waving the white "growl towels" they were given and screaming 'Let's Go Albany!' And the cheering quickly reached deafening levels as Jordan and Brent Wilson hit 3-pointers in the first minute." What a tribute to our fans. What a tribute also to our coach. He built the team virtually from scratch. He built the fanbase virtually from scratch. Here's hoping he will be the next UAlbany coach to gain 700 victories.
  16. Thanks, I just noticed it after my first post but before I saw yours. Thanks, again.
  17. I guess I have to take back a little criticism of the local newspaper here. I just checked out the front page of today's edition, and, lo and behold, there's a picture of the tents all splayed out in front of the old PE building. Right on page one! Cool! The various colors of the tents make a very impressive image. Nice job, TU! I just noticed the time. Coach Brown, if he followed through on his promise, should be serving cocoa and donuts to the FAITHFUL. It was 41° the last couple hours, not a bad low for this time of year in Albany.
  18. I'm a little upset that the Times-Union posted more info on the VT coach than it did on any other aspect of the coming event. I was reading the online version of the newspaper. Did it at least publish any pictures of students camping outside the PE building?
  19. DaneFan2k3, Thanks for the post. You are the first to present the news on this great accomplishment. So many people on this board post valuable information.
  20. I attended a game at another institution, and the officials there pasted (yes, with masking tape) seat numbers right on the bleachers. So then the fan matched the number (Row #, Seat #) on his ticket with the tape on the bleachers. I have no idea what UAlbany will do, but my scenario might be a possibility.
  21. I agree with keeping these events on campus. Wow! For the first time ever, students will have to compete with each other for tickets on Saturday! What great spirit this game will engender. We should sell out the RACC for several years in a row before we decide to change the venue, and by that I mean the place where the games are held now. Aren't there plans already drawn up of how the RACC can be expanded? I know Dane96 would have the answer to my question. If that's the case, unless our following begins to develop more like a Big East or ACC team, then we should keep the games at the RACC.
  22. I'm excited. I've never seen a thread on this forum go this far. And the thread started only a couple days ago. That development means a lot more people have found this site and started contributing. (Yes, I get my jollies out of small things.)
  23. While this bulletin board tends to function mostly as a men's basketball forum, we do cover all sports here. I just wanted to tick off some recent achievements in other fields (no pun intended). The women's basketball team ended the challenging season on a positive note. They beat UMBC on Saturday. Good luck in the tournament beginning Thursday. The men's track team did very well in their meet over the season. They came in 7th, although I don't know how many other teams competed. Gered Burns won his third annual IC4A meet in a row. That's a huge accomplishment! Other Danes also had good times. The women's team also had a good day with several women having good times. The team came in 16th. The baseball team won yesterday. The record does not look great, but the team has beat every opponent they have played once. As others have posted, the men's lacrosse team beat Siena. Any win over a crosstown rival is fun. The women's lacrosse team also won this weekend. The team won its third in a row and is still undefeated! The women's tennis team lost this weekend, but it was only their first loss of the season. What a difference from past seasons. Keep it up! The athletes from these other teams often support our basketball teams. How wonderful! We should support them in their great efforts, as well. This school is not a one-sport school.
  24. Anyone have any info on how many tix are still available? Should I go down there Tuesday morning or risk it by trying to get through on the phone? 12420[/snapback] Good questions, bosiydid. As soon as someone receives info on student access to tickets, it should be posted on this site. What is the general reaction of the student body to the extra game this weekend?
  25. Statefan, Let me add my voice of approval on your discovery. This gem should be posted on the history section of our site.
