  1. B9j2j6s and Patch, Good points by each of you. Hope all the guys can keep in control for the next few games. We are coming down a very critical stretch of games.
  2. Levi had to sit a game last season for being assessed a technical. What do you think Brown will do with Lu now? Every game is critical the rest of the season.
  3. "Root out the Terrierists" "The Terrierists have nowhere to hide"
  4. Next year to boost attendance, I hope UAlbany gets more games when students are in session. Binghamton certainly received an advantage this year in not only hosting the tournament but having most of its games when students are around. Re the cupholders: For next year, I want one specific cupholder - a place where we can display the Albany Cup.
  5. Dane96, Thanks for the correction on the seating capacity. As usual, you supply precise info. I knew the capacity was not exactly 5,000, but I could not recall the figure. What is your source for this figure? Great that there are only 500 tickets left. Knowing that many students particularly are precrastinators (I remember myself, as well, as one), I think many of them are still waiting to get tickets. It is great that this event looks like it will be a complete sellout. Some people may be turned away at the door. This situation, I think, will lead more rapidly to future sellouts. It's the psychology of the thing that many people want to be where many people are.
  6. The game reports and official sports profile state that the RACC is a 5,000-seat arena. I doubt whether fire laws would allow a large number of fans to stand in the RACC, instead of having seats.
  7. GODANESGO, I personally have no problem with anything you've stated in your post. I am concerned a little about your perception that there are separate student and "fan" seats. With the exception of the chairback and courtside seats which people have purchased for extra money, I am of the opinion that students can and should sit wherever they want. I welcome a lot more students to the game -- and every other one.
  8. If I did not have a ticket to the game already, I would do everything possible to get one as soon as possible. From what I have read, 2,500 tickets had been sold by Monday, and 4,000 tickets by yesterday. After last night's blowout, I would expect fan interest to increase tremendously. The place only seats 5,000, so do the math. This event might be the most important athletic event in your life as an enrolled college student. It would be a shame to miss out on this opportunity. In the meantime, I cannot convey how excited I am about this Saturday night. I have waited since the RACC opened in 1992 for a sellout. Right now, it seems almost inevitable that it will.
  9. I am so happy for Iati. Not only did he have the opportunity to get minutes, but he had a much better game. After he took his first 3-point shot that bounced off the front of the rim, I thought he was going to have a game just like the last few. Hopefully, his confidence has begun to return to natural levels. We need him. We need everybody the rest of the way.
  10. In my opinion, we received scant coverage in the Times-Union today, considering the importance of tonight's game and the direction in which the program is headed. The Troy-Record certainly provided much more in depth coverage of Stony Brook. Perhaps the lack of good coverage is good. Sometimes I think we perform more poorly when we get a lot of good press. Danes, good luck tonight!
  11. You're right. UNH was a bad experience. We did have a blowout against Maine. The score was 76-56. I do not expect such an easy time up there. They will be waiting for us.
  12. You have provided one way of looking at many of our games, and often I have felt the same way. Here's another: At least this year we are winning a majority of those close games. Up through the beginning of this season, we had lost nine straight games where the final score was decided by nine points or less. I will take the current situation rather than the old situation. And I think you are also correct that we tend to play to the level of our opponent. And, here again, that has played to our advantage when we played the likes of UCLA, Florida, and Vilanova (last year), and hopefully VCU later this year. Unless you are on a high dose of blood pressure medicine, enjoy the thrill.
  13. I echo everything you have said in your post. Although the Seawolves have the worst conference record, they have played a lot of teams tough in the conference. It will be interesting to see first-hand how much progress the new coach has made with his team since we last met them. I' scared, too, and I hope a lot of fans come out to see the Danes. Wow! What a week (for my purposes, eight days)! A big win over Bingo, a rematch with tough Stony Brook, the BPG, and the announcement of the national TV exposure later in the month. I hope the team has not been too distracted by these events.
  14. That's great news! I had hoped at the onset of this season that we would pack the RACC at least once, fully cognizant of the fact that it has never been done. I think the excitement of the Binghamton game and the fact that the other DI team in town is going through some struggles lately would entice some fence sitters to join in the annual revelry. I also hope that this game is being hyped on campus a lot. It's most effective when we have a large student outpouring. Can anyone from the student side make any comment on the game preparations, besides the flag?
  15. UAalum72, How do you cut the cord across the beltway with I-295? I know regular 295 runs parallel with I-95 out of Baltimore, but when it becomes the Beltway, do you continue on 295 through DC? If so, what do you do then? I have tried that route, but it is difficult to pick up I-395. Then I-395 merges with I-95 at the end of the Beltway after you have entered Virginia. Just curious.
  16. That was fast work on Pomeroy's part. Usually the site updates only once a day. I think I like being the underdog. I think the team works harder.
  17. From the AE website: "Of the 39 America East men's basketball games that have been played this season, 19 have been decided by five points or less (three by 5, two by 4, five by 3, four by 2 and five by 1). Vermont has played the most games (six) decided by five or fewer points (2-4), while Albany has the best record (3-1) in those games." Earlier this season, some of us were lamenting the fact that Albany had not won many close games for a while. I know that this inability was mentioned by Coach Brown last year and the beginning of this season. It is heartening to see that, to a certain extent, we have reversed that trend. One can also legitimately say that perhaps we should not have allowed our opposition to make the games so close, but it is nice to see a maturation of the team in this aspect of play.
  18. Good points, bob87, I think someone has been a little oversensitive. Sometimes that happens when one feels a little insecure. I posted the information as a little joke - sort of tongue-on-cheek. I certainly did not mean to start a big argument about it.
  19. If you are driving to Richmond, try to avoid the DC area. It is brutal, and the traffic jams don't exist just at the rush hours. US 301 is a good alternate sometimes, and it brings you back to I-95 near Fredericksburg. After that, it is not too bad to Richmond. Other people may have more successful routes.
  20. I guess I started something. (I was wondering when someone was going to react.) I simply found a bit of information that describes the situation as of now. It is nice to see a place right now where we get a little more consideration than Siena, so I posted the information. I added a little "fuel to the fire," and if someone wants to accuse me of "flaming" then so be it. To be fair, SienaTony has been a voice of reason on the Siena board when it comes to depicting UAlbany's current program realistically. I have seen several of his posts that have tempered the irrational comments of several of the Siena posters who just have no clue how far UAlbany has come in such a short time. SienaTony should really be commended for his attitude. And, on his own board, he also has a realistic picture of Siena's current program. But now some of the discussion has become ridiculous. I posted one comment that describes one single situation as of this moment, and some people have gone off making unreasonable responses regarding strength of conference, etc. Siena should be proud of what it has accomplished this season. It has made major progress, and it is beginning to turn its program around again, but it's no reason to knock someone else's program. As another poster pointed out, UAlbany has solid undeniable rights to brag on coming out of virtually nowhere. I, for one, am sick and tired of hearing how we have yet to enjoy a winning record. Albany bashers, make your comments now because as early as next week you will have no more reason to make that claim truthfully. And I am going to enjoy the rest of this season, and, contrary to some other local posters, I plan to enjoy the next few seasons because this progress will not stop this year. Our program will continue to make noticeable progress for the foreseeable future.
  21. Just to add some more fuel to the fire. I just checked the site where possible matchups in the NCAA tourney is listed, and Siena isn't listed as a possible seed. http://www.bracketography.com/ We are still bracketed as a 15th seed, and despite all the rhetoric about how the MAAC is such a superior conference to just about everybody else in the country, it still gets only one spot: Iona as a 13th. The MAAC still receives only one place in the 64-seed pairings. Oh, yes, Manhattan is listed as on the bubble, but I am sure that they will disappear soon with the departure of CJ Anderson, who has academic problems. Now I am very aware of Albany's tenuous position in this chase for the conference title and the opportunity to go to the Big Dance, but for the moment I am going to enjoy this good feeling.
  22. Interesting info obtained though a link to the Mid-Majority Truth website. The site has a link to bracketography which I guess predicts seeds for the Big Dance. Here is the link: http://www.bracketography.com/ According to the current scenario, UAlbany would play in the Jacksonville regional as the 15th seed. Anyone want to hazard a guess who our 2nd-seed opponent would be? [None other than Florida of the SEC] Who's up for going down to Florida again?
  23. McFan, Great report, as usual, on the indoor track teams. Thanks for making the reading of their news easier to access for a lot of us UA fans who might otherwise be unaware . Our track teams have always performed well, at least since I started watching them in the late 1960's, and it is rewarding to read of their achievements at a higher level of competition. Track team members get far less positve exposure for what they do than student-athletes in other sports, but their feats are just as difficult to attain. As many of the fans of this forum know, these student-athletes also take time out to support their comrades in other sports. They are a real class act. Congratulations to the students and the staff who work with them. Four school records broken in one match - fantastic!
  24. Links to game stories: http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp...sdate=1/29/2006 http://www.binghamtonpress.com/apps/pbcs.d.../601290331/1003 Oddly enough, although there was a nice pre-game article in the Troy-Record yesterday, there was no follow-up story. Also, there was an in-depth analysis of where the total UAlbany sports program is today and where it is headed. http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story...sdate=1/29/2006
  25. I cannot wait to hear reports from the UAlbany fans who attended today's game.
