  1. Maine men leading UVM with 4 minutes to go. UA needs to take advantage of this opportunity.
  2. UA women leading UVM by 11 going into the last quarter.
  3. Maybe they should drop down to Division II. Then we have an excuse not to have to play them.
  4. Normally I would agree with this statement, but how can you not praise him with the season they had vs. expectations. Some people predicted them #9 in the conference. I agree that Gallagher should receive some recognition for the unexpectedly good season he has had. I just find it a little ironic that Hartford has won or shared Coach of the Year awards twice within recent years. (Was Harrison the other Hartford coach?) And Coach Brown has won the award only once in his 17 years at UA with five trips to the NCAA's. No, he didn't deserve the award this year, but in other years maybe so.
  5. There are a few other schools who have a Division I team but are Division II or III in other sports. Union and RPI have Division I hockey, but they play in Division III in all other sports. Hartwick, I believe, still has Division I men's soccer. They used to be Division II in men's basketball, but they dropped down to Division III. I used to be a little jealous of these teams, but since we are now DI in all sports, that feeling is gone.
  6. America East is the currently sixth-ranked conference in men's lacrosse. Here's the list: Conference check-in We’ve got power up where it normally resides, but a rising underdog conference won’t be silenced. Here’s the full rundown: ACC: Duke, Virginia, UNC, Syracuse, Notre Dame (5) B1G: Maryland, Ohio State, Rutgers, Johns Hopkins (4) Big East: Villanova, Denver, Georgetown, Marquette (4) Ivy: Yale, Princeton, Penn (3) Patriot: Army, Loyola (2) America East: Albany, Vermont (2)
  7. The TU article could have also mentioned that the UA men's lacrosse team is the first Number 1-rated team ever coming from the SUNY system in Division 1. The editors never checked the UA athletics site!
  8. From NCAA.com: "1. The Great Danes are ablaze We begin, as we did last week, with the best team in the country: Albany, the medicine-bringers. The purple-and-yellow people eaters are making it very clear who has the best offense in the nation, and considering what they did to Syracuse in the season opener, they might be the most well-rounded team as well. The Danes took an unreal 16-2 lead over Drexel in the first half and coasted to an 18-5 win, with Connor Fields taking the role of the aggressor against the Dragons. Fields finished with nine points, one shy of his career high, including an outrageous seven assists. Freshman wizard Tehoka Nanticoke kept things rolling in his second career outing with a hat trick and a pair of assists, as did Justin Reh. Oh, and goaltender J.D. Colarusso only allowed two goals in the first 45 minutes of the game before stepping out of the net. Oh, and T.D. Ierlan has won 37 of his first 43 faceoffs this season. RELATED: Goaltender goal leads top plays of the week Absolutely everything is going right for the Danes, making them the team to fear for now. Their next test is a visiting Cornell squad on Saturday."
  9. Maine won 74-69 in overtime. Maine had a stellar fourth quarter to force the extra session.
  10. And @ Patrick! When and who was the last AE team to beat UVM in Burlington?
  11. I saw the total attendance listed at over 7,200. Coach Marr quickly gave kudos to the UAlbany fans in attendance at the post-game interview. About how many UA fans were there?
  12. I think this situation is analogous to the situation with Siena in basketball. It's about time they come here! And since UA is ranked higher in the preseason poll this year, then I'm willing to give Syracuse a guarantee game.
  13. I have never seen the last sixty seconds of basketball time go by so slowly.
  14. Yes, as soon as I saw the stat sheet that aspect jumped right out to me. How any team can take 20 free throws and make them all in the face of a hostile audience made UVM like a team possessed.
  15. I watched it on ESPNU but as a Catamount fan I can say that they were challenged in the OOC season this year and many of their games came down to the last few mins. and last second shots. They did not blink last night - I felt UA rushed some shots and did not space themselves well and allowed UVM's defense to really contest the shots. Not missing 1 free throw really slammed the door. Thanks, I think most of your argument is pretty reasonable for part of the explanation. Thanks again for responding.
  16. This fact has probably been debated too much, but I just want to say that I was very upset that UVM outscored UA by 22 after UA had the 17-point in the first half. A difference in refereeing might be part of the difference, but I would like to know why UA seemed to collapse in the last five minutes. It can't be totally that UVM used its bench much more effectively. The five starters for UVM logged just about the exact same average of minutes on the court as the starting five for UA. Is it lack of conditioning relative to UVM? I used to have pride that UA seemed to finish games more effectively than the opponents. Anyone have any ideas on the last part of the game?
  17. UVM has won 30 conference games in a row. I think it's time for an ambush tomorrow evening.
  18. Anyone know how many tickets have been sold for Thursday?
  19. I wonder what the attendance was at the men's game tonight?
  20. Nice intensity in the second half. I was afraid they would be down enough after the loss to UVM to lose this one too. Has a corner now been turned?
  21. I walked away for a while. I needed a shower, for some unknown reason. Can't believe UA tied it up.
