  1. None of those teams are stronger than ODU. What are you basing that on? ODU would have been the pick to win the CAA this year, not to finish 6th. Whether they would have been picked to win the CAA and whether they would be the best team in the CAA is two completely different hings. They barely beat the Citadel....who is 1-4 with losses to Wofford, Furman and Charleston Southern. Too bad they don't play any other CAA teams besides URI this year.
  2. Don't forget about NFL assistants as potential. You never know where Tony Sporano, Dave Campo, etc.. may be next year.
  3. UMass went from being a big fish in a small pond and winning national championships to being irrelevant all the while spending way more money. I don't think we're anywhere near that level of dispair. We typically have a bad season or two between strong run (see 2005 followed by the biggest win in uAlbany history in 2006). Just so happens this year lined up with the toughest schedule we've ever seen.
  4. We did used to play RPI and Union and Siena when they fielded a team. The gap between us and a lower level DIII like RPI or Union is wayyyyyy bigger than the gap between us and ODU. ODU won't even be the best team we play this year. JMU, Delaware, Towson, Maine and Richmond are all stronger teams.
  5. That's cool. Still waiting for them to put up the video that they played on the but screen right before the team ran out.
  6. That's because every home game is sold out and has been since before tickets even went on sale. They have a season ticket waiting list over 10,000. Only chance is Stubhub (http://www.stubhub.c...8-2013-4291467/), Craig's List (http://norfolk.craigslist.org/search/tix?query=old+dominion+albany&zoomToPosting=&minAsk=&maxAsk=), scalpers or somehow going through the UAlbany allotment, although I'm not sure how to do that.
  7. The alumni association is actually concerned about not having enough space. A great problem to have. If you look at the ticket website, there aren't a ton of seats available on the home side. We're 3 weeks away.
  8. How about make it part of the DangerZone rewards program? Attend "x" number of athletic events and get upgraded to gold seats.
  9. I don't know anything about soccer, but if we're getting 1000+ a game, we'll be in the Top 25 in the nation in attendance. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_soccer_RB/2013/attend.pdf That's pretty darn good.
  10. I can imagine that once the stadium is fully lapis off, they'll continue to seek donations for expansion. Get a coffer. I'm not all that psyched about increasing student fees yet. Eventually we may have to if the NCAA changes enough to pull us into FBS territory. Save up the political capital for when we have a clearer view on the future.
  11. Thought I'd pass this along. Its a great deal for food and ticket packages. Plus I know you pro-Damian logo fans will appreciate the graphic design work. http://www.albany.ed...danepregame.php
  12. She reiterated it at my tailgate on the 14th.
  13. The seats are a steal the monday before the game. $30 each. I would be a little pissed if I paid the $1000 just to get the seats. But I also think the school needs to sell them. Tough call
  14. Look on the bright side.....I think we got paid at least $100k for this game...........

  16. Its a great atmosphere if anyone is making the trip down to Hampton
  17. So for those of you who don't know, ODU is an offensive machine. The QB, Taylor Heinicke, won the Payton Award last year - the FCS's Heisman. He's thrown for 1273 yards already this year. Last year he threw for 730 yards in a single game. He totaled 5,076 yards passing, a 390.5-yard average, and 55 total touchdowns last year. And oh by the way, he also ran for 470 yards on 126 carries. ODU is an FBS transitional team this year. They start play in Conference USA next year (or the year after - I can't remember the rules). They're in a hot bed of football talent and will be a force on the FBS level soon I believe. They just announced they are building a new stadium and the locals were outraged.............wait for it..............because its too small. Apparently 35,000 seats isn't enough and is a waste of money. If they score less than 70, I'm counting it as a victory.
  18. Another thing that may have gone unnoticed - Don Mion announced hat he will retire with Coach Ford at year's end. I'm wondering if Simpson will also. What a depressing season. Now 3 long weeks before I get back to the stadium for something good.
  19. We lost a lot last year but the recruiting classes we've had over the last 4 or 5 years are the best the program has ever had. The team looks lost.
  20. Probably the most disappointing 4-game stretch since I've been around UA football. I'm seriously concerned about how bad we will lose at homecoming. Towson could beat us by 70 if they wanted.
