  1. Definitely. You have Fillien with Zo's turn-around and don't forget that Eaton was the scouter for the UConn game. Can't argue with results...they're all great personalities as well.
  2. Pretty sure it would be up to Coach Brown and his staff if we can use Duell. If he/they feel that the last scholly would be put to good use on Duell, then I'm 100% for it. I think Coach Brown has more than done enough to earn our trust..ESPECIALLY in the area of recruiting.
  3. I've got it. Let's make it easy and give Coach Brown an exactly 100% salary increase for a nice round figure raise. That'd put his salary at $211,980. Certainly competative with the rest of the league and it'll show that we MOST DEFINITELY want him around and respect what he's done. Now I just have to type it up and fax it over to McElroy and Brown. Geez, I should do this more often...lol.
  4. Proving the fact that our run gets us notarity, not just about the game itself, but in general...check out pictures 4 and 5. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi....1.exclude.html It's just doing more and more to make sure our name is heard. Thank you Coach Brown and the rest of the staff/team. And doing my part to help get the name out there...lol... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/sion...0322/index.html
  5. http://www.basketballboards.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=78 It's one of the links on the top under "Winter Sports Links" listed as "America East Forum."
  6. One more thing for the team to be proud of...I saw yesterday that Rudy Gay was named one of the 4 finalists for the NCAA POY award..others being Morrison, JJ, and Ray. Looking back at the stats from the game, the Danes held Gay to 8 pts, 4 boards, 0 assists, and forced him into 3 TOs. Not too shabby! Way to hold in check one of the top 4 players in the country.
  7. Not that it makes much of a difference, but I've seen him listed at 6'9" instead of 6'8". He's definitely a tall kid from the couple of times I've seen him. While it's definitely not a starting line-up or even a regular rotation, imagine if we had Lillis (6'5"), Anderson (6'5"), Brent (6'8"), Yocum (6'9"), and Gifford (6'10"+) on the court all at the same time? Talk about size!!
  8. I had been hearing Utah instead of Utah State. Have you been hearing something different, '73? USU would obviously make sense with Pres. Hall's connections. That'd be a great mid-major game.
  9. And didn't we hear that they're working on adding in the University of Utah during the return trip to UVS? And this year's schedule ended up packing some punch. Faced 3 teams with top 15 RPI (UConn #3, UCLA #9, Florida #15) and those teams are all in the top 10 with Pomeroy's ranking (UConn #2, Florida #3, and UCLA #9). All are also in the Sweet 16.
  10. That was a very well written article! I got butterflies in my stomach just reading it!
  11. Great bit, can't wait for next season. Channel 13 had a similar thing last night on Big Board with Rodger.
  12. Ugghh, I have the same feeling. I woke up both Saturday morning (well afternoon I guess..lol) and Sunday morning almost feeling lost..haha. Almost like a 'ok, now what am I supposed to do with myself?' It was really kinda weird. I agree with the couple posters who suggested that the University does some kind of 'thank you' celebration/party for the team in the next couple weeks. Probably not right away, as I'm sure the team would like to enjoy some rest and finally have a weekend off. But I think it'd be a pretty cool event. And I'm making a collague (sp?) type poster thing with the AE Championship ticket and NCAA ticket, plus a lot of the newspaper headline clipings and such...so it'd be kinda cool to maybe have a chance for the team to sign some of it. I know we can never say thank you enough to the team and coaches for the season, but I think this would be a cool tribute.
  13. Thought I might update this... Jamar: - his 19 pts puts him 3rd all-time on the UAlbany scoring list with 1544...307 pts behind Gary Holway for 1st, 64 pts behind Jason Graber for 2nd - his 567 pts this season ranks 2nd all-time on the single season list behind Jason Graber at 568 pts Levi: - finishes 14th on the career scoring list with 1270 pts - finishes as the all-time leader with 114 career games played Danes team: - crowd of 19990 is the largest attended game the Danes have ever played
  14. Just wanted to check on prices for season tickets, or at least what they were this year (knowing that they might go up for next year). I looked online, but couldn't find any info. I'm thinking they maybe they just have the info up when they can be purchased. Anyways, how much are reserved seasons and chairback seasons? Does a Varsity Club membership cut down the prices at all? I'm staying here for grad school after graduating this May, so still should be able to get in free for games, but I'm thinking about getting at least the reserved season tickets 1) to make sure I know I have a seat in case there's any more sell-outs next season and 2) to get my 'years of having season tickets' clock start as soon as possible! Thanks for any info!
  15. Jamar Wilson was 1-3 from downtown. Not far off from is average as he usually makes a little over 1 per game. I actually have an awesome picture of him hitting the 3-point shot..pretty impressive for my can't take action shots digital camera. Looking at the stats, it was really only Brent who was off from downtown, going 0-5. I think Jamar was VERY impressive and certainly proved himself again on the national scene. Looking at his numbers from the 3 national tv games (VCU, UVM, and UConn), he he really put up some great stats..25.3ppg, 6.3rpg, and 3.7apg.
  16. Anderson is a HS player from Ohio..Knight is the JUCO player.
  17. I have to agree with GD84 here in defense of the students a bit as I also didn't make it out to the RACC to see the Danes arrive. No word was given to the students. The only way I found out was through reading one of the TU articles yesterday that briefly mentioned they were planning on getting back around 3pm. This year the students have been kind of trained that any official info on the basketball team would be posted on the Athletics website, where there was no announcement of their arrival. Waking up around 1:30p after getting back to my apt. around 4am because I stayed around after the game to congratulate the players and coaches (as did a number of students at the Wachovia Center), didn't exactly leave a lot in my tank to try and wake up at 9am to check and see what time the bus might be getting back. Remember, 100 students signed up in 15-20 minutes to spend $60 of their limited college student budget to see a game 4 hours away and get back to campus around 2a-3a on a packed bus. So let's try and hold off an any student spirit bashing until we see how many hold-overs come out to the games next season.
  18. Haha, with Levi lifting him up part of the way in mid-air. Looks like they were having a great time.
  19. Article from the Sullivan County area paper..interesting mentions about the contracts talks. Glad to see that 4 to 5 years is "not far off." March 16, 2006 Former SCCC coach has ticket to Dance Albany rides into tourney under Brown By Justin Rodriguez Times Herald-Record jrodriguez@th-record.com Will Brown broke off contract talks with SUNY Albany officials in January because he didn't want the process to distract his players. Instead, Brown's consideration for his team has morphed into a brilliant negotiating tactic. Brown has led Albany to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Now that's leverage. The Great Danes (21-10) earned an automatic bid to the field of 64 with an 80-67 win over three-time defending champ Vermont in the America East Conference championship Saturday. Albany, which became a Division I program just seven years ago, is the first SUNY school to qualify for the tournament. "I really helped myself," said Brown, who coached at Sullivan County Community College from 1998-2001. "I'm thankful. This has worked out well. Negotiations are ongoing, but I was really thinking about what was in the best interest of my kids." Brown's contract expires after the season. He would not comment on the specifics of a new deal, but when asked if he was looking for something in the four- to five-year range, Brown said, "You are not far off." For now, Brown is focusing on Albany's hellacious first-round draw. The 16th-seeded Great Danes play top-seeded Connecticut (27-3) tomorrow in Philadelphia in the Washington, D.C., Regional. No 16th seed has beaten a No. 1 since the tournament expanded to 16 seeds in 1985. "They are physically imposing and probably the most athletic and deepest team in the nation," Brown said. "They have pros at every position and are dangerous now that they are coming off a loss in the Big East tournament." Brown, who went 90-10 at SCCC, has led Albany from the depths of college basketball. This is the Great Danes' first winning season since moving to Division I in 1999-2000. Albany went 5-23 two years ago, sporting a five-man rotation, and 13-15 last season. Albany will go 10-deep against UConn. Thanks in part to Brown's feverish recruiting and go-getter mentality - two of his trademarks at SCCC - Albany was picked to win the America East during the preseason and figures to be a league player in the future. "I think they will be one of the top two teams coming into next season," Vermont coach Mike Lonergan said. "Will Brown deserves a lot of credit. He's proven he can recruit and you can tell his players really believe in what he's doing." Albany senior forward Levi Levine said: "If you don't have respect for coach Brown you are crazy. You have to give him credit. It wasn't easy going through all the turmoil he has. I can honestly tell you that coach has really matured. "He was one of the youngest coaches in the nation when he took this job. I think he was in a position like it was him against the world. But he's gotten smarter and done a great job." Brown was promoted from assistant coach to interim head coach in December 2001 when Scott Beeten was fired after a 1-7 start. Brown, 53-82 in 4½ seasons, received a one-year extension from Albany vice president and athletic director Lee McElroy last August. He was under pressure to win this season and did. So now Brown wants the big contract and maybe Albany will start to feel some pressure. "I would be lying if I told you I didn't have aspirations to coach at the highest level someday," Brown, 34, said. "But I'm not going to move just to move. Too many people move for more money and a high-profile job and it doesn't work out."
  20. Great story...glad to hear that he appreciates being in this position. Great kid.
  21. Look closely and you see '92 storming the court with all us young college kid folk..now that's a fan!!
  22. From WNYT's site.... http://www.wnyt.com/x7389.xml?ag=x156&sb=x183
  23. I think I read in an article (TU maybe?) that they had a list of season ticket holders who had them for 5+ years, and went through that list until the allotment was gone.
  24. After reading the article this morning, I wonder if one of his questions were "Who is this short bald guy asking you random questions and if he really cared about what students thought about our team then why wasn't he there when hundreds of students camped out for 24 hours for tickets?" Hmmm, maybe the article just didn't have room to print the answers to that one.
