  1. Wow, the NYT, now that's pretty big time! You have to register (for free) to read online, but here's the link. Good find 04! http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/15/sports/n...r=1&oref=slogin Also mentioned that Jamar thought about transfering after the 5-23 season. Not too surprised there, but it's the first time I've seen it in print.
  2. Wyland mentioned last night that he could possibly play a year at HVCC and then come to UAlbany so that he wouldn't have to sit out for the two years. But would we want him and use up that 5th scholly? Or should we still be looking for a real good JUCO big man for this year or save it next year for a PG?
  3. I guess the UAlbany official allotment is Section 112 and Section 212.
  4. Although they got some info wrong (umm, we're playing UConn not Duke), collegehoopes.net lists Jamar as one of the Tournament's "Top 10 Under the Radar Players." "5. Jamar Wilson, University of Albany When you lead a school to its first ever tournament birth, you're going to get some props. Junior guard Jamar Wilson has done that for the Great Danes, leading them to the America East conference title after only being a Division I program since 1999. The Danes victory ousted Vermont from the drivers seat of the conference, one that they dominated over the last three years. Wilson, the Player of the Year in the conference, led the Danes in scoring at 17.3 ppg and also grabbed 4.9 boards. The 6'1" Bronx prodigy is an up-tempo guard who has solid shooting skills but thrives in the open floor. His ability to score and take over games was shown to the fullest in the title game where he put up 29 and eight. He also posted 20 plus points 14 times this season. Drawing Duke in the first game will certainly be a challenge of mammoth proportions but with Wilson, at least they'll make it competitive and maybe a few highlight reel plays along the way." http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/columns/mat...aine/060313.htm
  5. Just looking at the .pdf preview of the game on the men's basketball athletic site, there are a few milestones that might be within reach for some of our players at this UConn game... Jamar: - needs 2 points to pass (1 to tie) Morrison Teague for 3rd place on the all-time scoring list - needs 21 points to pass (20 to tie) Jason Graber's all-time single season scoring record...9 points to pass (8 to tie) Teague for 2nd on that list - 5 three-pointers away from tying EJ Gallup for 7th on the career 3-point list Levi: - needs 5 points to pass (4 to tie) John Dieckelman for 12th on the all-time scoring list...2 points (1 to tie) Jim Oppedisano for 13th on that list - 1 three-pointer away from tying Jamar for 8th on the career 3-point list - will extend his career games played record to 114 Iati: - 8 three-pointers (hey, you never know!..haha) away from tying Antoine Johnson for 5th place on the career 3-point list Brent: - 4 three-pointers away from reaching 100 treys for his collegiate career (currently 11th place) Danes team: - a crowd of 19,933 would be the largest attended game the Danes have ever played in - #2 UConn is the highest ranked team the Danes have ever played
  6. Great post 96. Very logical and straight-forward. I couldn't have said it better myself. It's funny because I can't wait to graduate and go out and get a job to make some money. Why? Not so I can buy the things I want, etc. (although that's a part of it of course..lol), but so that I will actually have money to contribute and try to help make a difference..more than just deciding to pay the $3-4 to park close instead of free with walking. I'm not sure the feelings of this board in regards to former Pres. Hitchcock, but she was President the first year that I came to UAlbany. I came to the school sometime in Feb. of my senior year in HS for an accepted students lunch, or something like that, and she was the speaker. The one thing I remember her saying was something to the effect of "it might not seem like it right now, but I promise you that whether it's in the next 5, 10, or 15 years, when you tell people that you graduated from the University at Albany, it's going to have the same meaning to people as all the other big name colleges across this country." And I can say, with me getting my Bachelor's this May, I really do feel like that's true already.
  7. The article does say that some of the tix have been reserved for "season ticket holders." Obviously is doesn't say how many, but have any of you season ticket holders been contacted yet?
  8. I was looking at other games at that time and there's no big time teams/game playing..so I would hope we got some tv time for this.
  9. Haha, that's nuts how fast it's growing! I was the second one to join the group earlier this week when the kid created it on Monday or Tuesday I think. I just looked at it and it's almost 300!..with some of the players in it too..lol.
  10. Headin out to the line in like 30min-1hr. Was originally planning on later tonight but a friend of mine there said that the number already in line is near 100. Have a good night everyone and we'll see you tomorrow in a PACKED RACC!! GO DANES!
  11. Blair Buchanan is the Volleyball player. All-American for the past two years I believe.
  12. Up by the top of the football stands? I think that's where we're planning on tonight sometime. Gotta find a tent though and/or maybe some of those collapsable chair things.
  13. I've got a kidney to give for them to make sure I'm there if we get there.
  14. Ehhh, only that low around 7a-8a or so and by that time there'll be a few hundred students to keep everyone warm! Midnight-5am temps in the low to mid 40's...a lot better than it's been, so I'm not complaining!
  15. Right now we're planning on camping out at the top of the football stands starting late tomorrow night...we're making sure we get our spot in line!
  16. Some more love for Coach Brown in a collegeinsider.com article about mid-majors that could make some noise in the big dance... "Will Brown’s Albany team, should they defeat Vermont in the America East Championship, has some good senior leadership. They play well as a unit and don’t seem to be intimidated. That is a well-coached team." Questions
  17. Pretty sure me and a good number of my friends are gonna start Friday night. Maybe getting there like midnight-2am. I think were just gonna set up at the top of the football stands near the door into the PE Building. Football field would be kinda cool, but I'm not gonna give up any room..hahaha. Probably plan on bringing the cooler, sleeping bag, fold up chairs, etc. Should be a good one in Brownsville!
  18. Good coverage tonight on the ticket sales, etc. While they didn't mention anything about it when they showed video of the Danes practice today, I did notice that Jamar's right hand was heavily wrapped. Not sure if he aggravated it a bit during his fall into the cameraman this past weekend or what, but it didn't seem to bother him in the video that they showed.
  19. OMG I already can't contain myself. We already have some poeple who are planning on getting there early Saturday morning. We've been throwing around the idea of anything from 5am-7am for the arrival time. And depending on how many people we get, we mentioned maybe calling the student "camp-out area" BROWN TOWN. I hear the students with their kegs and eggs worries, but this is just something I just can't miss for ANYTHING. You do kegs and eggs once, you've done it 100x. Anyways, with St. Patty's Day being on Friday the 17th, they most likely will have it the following weekend as well..just like usual. So no worries ua06! I can't believe the buzz that's already around campus for this game. IT"S GONNA BE NUTS!
  20. I called the box office about it and they seemed pretty confused on the student ticket situation. I'm sure it's crazy there today. The guy mentioned something about the school trying to do free tix for students, but didn't really have much info past that. I have an email in right now looking for more info, but if I don't hear anything then I'm going to the box office tomorrow morning. Better safe than sorry! I'll post if I hear anything more.
  21. Cool to see Yocum there, I hope he enjoyed his time in Bingo. And while I didn't have a ruler with me, he's about as 6'9" as they come. When I first saw him, I was wondering if it was Gifford because of his height. Anways, he's mentioned in an si.com article about his 2 "other" DI teammates at Episcopal... Brotherly Love "The team has a third Division I recruit in 6-9 center Mike Yocum (Albany), but the other members of the admittedly thin squad are generally more skilled at sports such as baseball and lacrosse..."
  22. It's listed as "Sunday Bracketology." With our game not being over until a bit after 4, I think it's easy to assume that the bracket was just created somewhere mid-day, because he has counted UVS in our win column before. Personally, I'd rather have the 16th seed in Philly/Dayton than the 15th in Greensboro/Dallas.
  23. Probably the "thank god for him!!...he saved my job!!" standard.
  24. Wow, according to the Bingo paper's article I guess Jamar grew a bit. They have him listed at 6'4"...lol.
