Here's to every one who gave it to Jon Iati over the last month and to every one on the post about kicking the chair who said he shouldent be playing and who are you goning to put him in for. well he just help clinch the outright regular season title for all you front runners. Every one saying he's to small he can't guard anyone,he's struggling shooting. we were srtuggling today and he came in and had 30. so lets just admitt that no one on here knows what really going on and leave the coaching to Will, the playing to 12 guys in uniform and the yelling in the stands to every one on this site.

Let's admit that you have shown up in the last two weeks, talking smack, blah, blah. Jon is a baller but, if you have followed the team, read articles AND UNDERSTOOD THE GAME, would know he was extremely ILL, had little practice/playing time, and, the matchups, unlike yesterday, were not good for JON.

No one was knocking him, rather we were wondering what was up.

For you to talk $iena about fans who have stuck with players through thick and thin, through the lean years, well, that is JUST WRONG.

There are former players and coaches from UA on this board, there are casual fans, and there are former athletes from all levels; WE KNOW THE GAME.

Now go harp on something else instead of telling us WHAT WE DONT KNOW. Better yet, read the article from the York paper...pretty much sums it up.

Congrats to Jon for breaking out.

If you actually knew the game or even followed the team you'd know that noone here was knocking him. We all agreed that he has his spots and at time can be great. But there is no denying that he's had a rough go of it this season. I didn't see you call us all "frontrunner" two days ago, we were simply wondering what was going on. Just because John had one great game doesn't mean he's going to go off for 29 (not 30) every day. And if you actually knew the game you'd realize that in the first half UMBC played zone defense. This enabled John to have good looks from the arc. In the second half they switched to man-to-man and John had something like 7 points. Yeh still great but not 22 points. There's only one thing you got right in your post. YOU DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON!!!!!

Just to underscore what Dane96 stated, we need ALL our players. Everyone has a role on that team, including men who play rarely. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes in the dynamics of the team. Perhaps a team member provides at best on most occasions only motivation for the other team members, that's still a meaningful contribution.

Thank goodness, this year we have for the first real time the luxury of choosing whom we want to match up against our opponents. I'll give the coach the credit for choosing these matchups. I'm just glad that now we seem to have everybody healthy and ready to go for the second season.

Now we play for high stakes. One loss and we're out. I have two goals remaining for this team. First, I want them to win 20 games, and then I want them to win the league tournament. Everything after that is pure gravy, but to achieve those first two goals, everybody on the team needs to be firing on all cylinders.

Danes, we're behind you. Go get 'em!

Report from UMBC:

You're really on top of the court. I don't know if you could tell from TV, but the front row of the seats are about six inches from the painted area of the sideline. Whoever complained last year that the RACC bleachers were too close should see this place. Eight rows of chairbacks, and ten rows of wooden bleachers on a running track above/behind the lower section.

Albany fans (about 75) dominated the area behind the Great Danes' bench.

UMBC campus is a lot like UA - a perimeter road around a suburban campus completely unconnected with the surrounding area.

Iati was unconscious, but I'd still say he has defensive matchup problems, the difference being that against UMBC, Jay Greene is one of the few guards in the league that John has to guard and be guarded by who's shorter.

Concessions may be slower than the RACC, but at least they're on the track above chairbacks, so you can see the game while waiting in line (the bleachers were rolled back on the side behind the TV cameras).

A guy I'm pretty sure was Brian Connelly's father appears to have been separated at birth from baseball coach John Mueller.
