I find it interesting that Schumer jumps in via conference call. UB working hard getting him on board, kudos to them.

Shcumer calls the four SUNY Centers (UB, BU, SBU and UA) the crown jewels of the SUNY system. Schumer singles out our NANO Tech and UA and bring up the new Cell Reasearch grant. Continues talking about the population growth, income growth and attributes it to the success of UA and NANO. Nice bone our way.

Schumer goes to bat for the rational tuition + plan advanced by UB and SUNY. Schumer again points out that what UA is doing CAN be replicated in other places like UB, BU and SBU. It appears our NANO initiative has been a huge slam dunk to the point where people point to it and say, see it can work in other places.

Silver up...jeezzz Silver is such a bore, no inflection in his voice just drones on.

Silver goes right for variable tuition. Repeats the same old same old that it needs to remain accessible. Completely ignores the UB/SUNY plan to not raise tuition on families under 40K.

5 percent SUNY tuition hike on horizon - today's T-U story includes Stony Brook's NYSUNY2020 plan for a cancer research center.

"the governor's office said UAlbany has been invited to make a presentation, although no date has been set.

UAlbany officials want to renovate its Alumni Quad/Midtown area to the east of the main campus to create a biomedical and information center."

If done right, UA's plan could be a real economic boost to the city of Albany. It could in one fell swoop clean up the student ghetto and the associated problems.

Two words:

Emminent Domain

There is a perfect location flanked by Western and Washington and running East from Albany High (Patridge) to the Downtown Campus (S Lake).

It would incorporate Alumni Quad and the Downtown Campus and get rid of a lot of crap.
