Saw a bunch of players at University Gym last night.

I'm not sure how it will translate on the court but Wiegmann doesn't look like the same guy. Last year he seemed like a skilled guy who was kind of scrawny. That description doesn't fit anymore. He looks more like Devlin now.

Jiggetts does not look like a freshman physically. He doesn't seem lilke a guy who will be bothered by a bump in the lane going to the hoop at all.

After seeing Dallas, Odunsi and Egharevba combined with Gary Johnson we have a lot of guys 6'4-6-6 to play the small forward and guard spot. It looks like our time of playing a shooting guard as an undersized small forward is over.

Take a look at why he decomitted from siena...

Playing time? Role?

Jiggetts, Wright Trading Places At Siena

By MARCUS HELTON

2013 guards Stephan Jiggetts and Marquis Wright have been good friends since elementary school, and for a while it looked like the former AAU teammates would reunite at the college level.

That all changed Thursday though, as Wright (North Point) committed to Siena College just hours after Jiggetts (Bishop McNamara) decommitted from the New York school. Wright had previously committed to Siena coach Jimmy Patsos at Loyola.

The Saints picked up another DMV standout as well, with Oakland Mills forward Lavon Long - like Wright, a former Loyola recruit - pledging to rejoin Patsos.

Jiggetts’ father Steve and Wright’s father Walter – who is also Stephan’s Godfather – maintained weeks ago that they didn’t want their sons going to the same school if it meant having to battle each other for playing time. Steve Jiggetts coached both guards with the Maryland Ruff Riders AAU organization.

Walter Wright said that while it would have been nice for his son and Jiggetts to play together, both families understood it might not be feasible.

"They started out that route, anyway," he said. "He was at Loyola and Steph was here, so they were separate anyway. It would have been nice, but if its best for both of them, you've got to make it work that way. They'll make it work and they'll be fine."

Steve Jiggetts said Patsos came to visit his home last week, and the family began to feel uncomfortable with Stephan’s proposed role.

“They wanted Stephan to play the 2,” Steve Jiggetts said, “but he can’t play the 2. He’s got to show he can run an offense. They wanted him for scoring, but that’s not what the old coach recruited him for. The old coach wanted him as a combo, scoring point guard.”

Now, Wright will run the point and Jiggetts immediately becomes one of the top scorers available in the DMV 2013 class.

Wright said he heard from Siena, Tulane, Hofstra, Fairfield and Quinnipiac after getting his release from Loyola.

"Going there and visiting, it was a nice campus, nice school, nice coaching staff, nice team," Marquis Wright said. "That's where it seemed like I best fit in, again. Coming from Loyola, it was a good fit with the coaches and the players, and going up there its most of the same coaching staff and good players on the team."

Wright admitted it was strange to have his recruiting process overlap so much with his good friend.

"I mean, it was kind of weird the fact that he left," he said, "but I guess we're both going to do what's best for us. It just kind of happened like that."

Why wait for the preseason poll to be released later today? Buried in Santillo's article today..he says the men's team is picked 3rd in the poll.

Not cool by Santillo...I wanted something to pass the late morning/early afternoon.

FYI:
