It is always interesting to see the roster changes from year to year, specifically the mid-season additions and the attritions (of guys who have not graduated).  With Covid, the rosters are even more interesting to review.

We brought in some big-time help in the early recruiting and normal recruiting period. As for attritions, we seemed to not lose too much considering roster size.  Of course, we also know our webpage is notoriously slow with roster updates...and the following guys who are not on the roster could still be with the program, have opted out due to COVID or simply moved on with their lives.

Here are the attritions from last season that were set to return pending elgibility, etc:.:

Defensive Line

Rushawn Lawrence- Would have been a RS Freshman.  Only appearance was in the Montana State game.

Robert Lachmann- Would have been a Redshirt Sr.  Played 5 games in 2019.  Could have been a graduation loss.  Pure speculation.

Punter / Kicker

Luke Clement- Would have been a RS Soph.  I believe he had the Times Union scholarship...but I could be wrong on that one.  Did not appear in any games in his two seasons.

Joey Mitchell- Would have been a Sophomore.  Appeared in every game and averaged 36.4 yards per punt.

Linebacker

Brady Wisniewski- Would have been a RS Senior. Appeared in 13 games over his career.  Possible loss due to graduation?!  Pure speculation.

Julian Conover- Would have been a RS Senior.  Transferred in from Temple.  Played in 18 games at Albany.  Could be a possible graduation loss, pure speculation.

Isaiah Watson- Would have been a RS Junior.  Appeared in 20 games in his career, including all of 2019's games.

Offensive Line

Jonny Moore- Would have been a RS Freshman.

Micah Royster- Would have been a RS Sr.  Played in 31 games over his career.  Retired from Football and graduated.

QB

Griffin Dahn- Would have been a RS Senior.  He transferred to U of Findlay.  He isn't listed anymore and is out in Sacramento.

 RB

Alex James- Would have been a RS Senior.  Transferred in from Coastal Carolina.  He graduated and is now at SC State for a grad transfer season.  Understandable considering what we have coming back in Mofor.

WR

Ricky Gamble- Would have been a RS Freshman.  Appeared in two games.  He transferred to Hudson Valley CC.

All things considered, including COVID, 12 guys who could have been back not coming back is not bad at all and speaks to team culture.  Considering half of those were likely graduates (including one known transfer in Dahn), the numbers are excellent.

The only surprises for me are Rushawn Lawrence and Isaiah Watson.

The program is full steam ahead...building a culture that people want to be a part of and stay in.

Also, there always are kids who can not cut it in the classroom. We talked about that last year [or was it 2 years ago???] Kids who were brought in seem to be as good and MAY be better.  We got some outstanding transfers in - several grads from FBS schools.  I'm looking at it as an over-all upgrade; always optimistic.  Grad Student RB from Dartmouth, O and D linemen transfers,  2 or 3 WR  transfers, DB transfers,  DE just signed as a transfer, great freshman kicker and a transfer in.   I know there were plenty of graduations on FB and Lacrosse - a few guys on each decided to come back as grad students.  Most did not.

Wells aid>>"The program is full steam ahead...building a culture that people want to be a part of and stay in."  EXACTLY correct!

The only change I think is Morgan State - could be wrong
