  1. I caught part of the Seton Hall match, it seems each game runs 25 - 30 minutes, assuming it's reasonably close.
  2. 1 UofA player was in only one game, eight players were in all four Box Score so I don't think there was any 'letting up' to let the fourth game go to 30-28. E-Rod didn't play in this match, either. She did play against Temple, however
  3. UA sweeps American U. in the 2nd match, 30-17, -25, -21. They may not be national volleyball powers, but to the casual listener (if any media report it) it's got to sound good that we've beaten George Washington, New Mexico, Seton Hall, Temple, and American in a row.
  4. Tough to generate a buzz when there won't be another home game for almost a month. Also when there's no offense, no matter how well the defense plays. The O should do better when conference play starts, but this team may be in a lot of 14-10 games. It would be nice if an injury report were added to the game notes.
  5. VB sweeps Seton Hall, 30-23, -28, -20. Attendance 107. Crowd included current and former WBB players, Baseball and WLax players, and a gaggle of 10-year-old girls. $iena at home next Tuesday, after Temple, American and Arizona in DC this weekend.
  6. Albany didn't capitalize because Wall's layout 31-yard catch in the third q. only got us out to our own 43. Albany WRs were slightly open deep a couple of times, but the QB couldn't get it there, at least in time; Kornegay both closes real fast and also jumps well to knock away the ball - he's only 6-0. Fordham tailgaters were supposed to go to the Dutch lot - at least some of the TG were Albany students, including the WBB team. I don't think there were more than 500 Fordham fans there, so we still had one of the biggest non-homecoming crowds in recent years.
  7. Field Hockey beats Rhode Island 2-1, second win in a row. One victory over Rams down, one to go tonight.
  8. Video Link Click on the 'Play the Video' link. Slide to the 3:00 mark (past high school reports) for a News12 sports report from the Bronx on FU coaches Tricario, Skelton, and Foley.
  9. Of course, it's best if you're listening while you're AT THE GAME!
  10. Well, the University thinks Alexander was involved Tortorici said the microchip was in his middle leg. He was found dead in his prison cell in 1999.
  11. A 2-0 victory, outshooting the Indianettes 22-2. I've seen a commercial on TV-13, shows Dane athletes from various sports facing the camera and saying 'I play for you, Albany' (or UAlbany?), followed by a plug for the football game and fireworks. Not a bad pun, and at least an attempt to plant the idea that we're the local team. Let's hope it helps Saturday's crowd.
  12. Comments on the Fordham board say their receivers were unimpressive, the QB inexperienced and was chosen for his running, their D-line couldn't stop the run. Rhody option attack ran over 350 yards on 82 rushes (only tried 7 passes). Danes need a little pass rush, and need to protect - 6'4" 290 DL Aki Jones was suspended for the URI game, will be back. If Albany's DBs can get any kind of coverage, this game should be a lot closer than last week. If FU's receivers are five yards clear every play, it'll be another long night. Don't mow the grass!!
  13. These away uniforms really look sharp, the gold is a little brighter than shows up in this sideline lighting, or even than on TV.
  14. Just got done watching the tape, in case the result was different from seeing it live. Bazan's fast, but if anything his passing looked worse live than on TV. Banach seem to throw a nice ball, tho. They worked on Vidal's leg for a long time, but he dig jog (limping) off the field. He got hit in the side of the leg while running out of bounds, so it may just be a bruise, unless something caught in the turf as he went down. I never much liked a 3-man D-line, you can't get a pass rush, and if it's a 3-5-3 like we seemed to use, you're covering too many receivers with linebackers. Punting was pretty mediocre too. On the plus side, the rush d held HU to 80 yards on 30+ carries, and they did move the ball on the ground a little even without a passing attack to keep 'em honest. Yanker fans get spared nothing!
  15. Bob Ford will be a guest on the Hofstra Pride Football Show between 7:00 and 9:00 tonight. It's online at Hofstra Radio WRHU-FM
  16. Quotes from Bob Ford: 'Uli's loss doesn't change our offense at all' 'We probably won't be able to pound the ball like we used to' 'I think we probably will be more explosive and a little less pounding on offense' 'We will be a defense-oriented football team while we try to get our different style going on offense' 'We recruited Chris Lynch, and he'll handle kickoffs and punting. I've got a player who is more accurate with field goals and PATs, but he's also a position player and we may redshirt him...Lynch may have to handle all the kicking..' On the Pat, Ivy & A-10 : 'That's the direction the institute is moving in, and that's why we're putting them on the schedule now' 'We've got Cornell on the schedule next year and Delaware a year after that'
  17. A change in the Game Notes, and a web site announcement that Thursday's game will be televised on MSG
  18. Q wsoccer outshoots UA 23-4, but doesn't score until 27 seconds left in reg to win 1-0. UA website summary
  19. The Sports Network picks Albany over Stony Brook and Monmouth in today's conference preview. They must be the glue-sniffers Fordie mentioned.
  20. A better story about the Delgado injury in Troy Record. The T-U story about the transfers is OK by itself, but I hope that's not their entire preseason coverage. Yesterday was media day, after all.
  21. This song has been around a few years. The previous pep band played it a little more uptempo, and it sounded better. I hope the current pep band puts it in their repertoire, make part of the UAlbany 'brand', and publish their own recording. Statefan might recognize Maine's, but not from the way we sang
  22. SUNY-Albany At-a-glance says we're National University, third tier
  23. Maybe the BS (somebody wasn't thinking) Conference has another member signed for the future, but for this year it's still five. Big South preseason poll Anyway they're still too weak to deserve one of eight bids. An NCAA proposal for a 4-team non-scholarship playoff, that took almost two years to go thru the approval process, was shot down in the final step last year. The NCAA reasoning was they didn't want to encourage colleges to reduce the number of scholarships ("reduce athletic opportunities") they had to give. The number of 'mid-major', reduced-scholly schools is down to 20, St. Peter's looks real shaky, and some other MAAC programs don't look too healthy either. If Albany, Stony Brook and a couple of others upgrade, there won't be enough teams to have a playoff for.
