  1. Full plate of turnovers-TU Danes' men standing tall-TU
  2. I'm tempted but not sure if I'll make it. I'd like to go to Baltimore the following weekend and combine the road hoop game at UMBC on Sun with the Sat lacrosse game at Hopkins. I don't think I'll make both the VCU and UMBC trips. Pretty fun week so far. A win on Bing on Saturday, the ESPN game and then completing the first sweep of our SUNY brethren (both of them). After years of having no big guys it's fun to be the team with a center the other team can't handle. I thought they could have gotten it to Zo more but still a nice night: 12 pts, 6 boards. Jamar was nearly perfect tonight-23 pts, 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks and no turnovers. He really shot lights out tonight too. Great to see Iati shoot the ball as well as he did. Kind of an interesting lineup in the second half with Jamar, Lu, Siggers, Levi and Zoellner on the floor. I'm not sure I've seen those guys on the floor at the same time together before.
  3. According to the TU scouting report SB will play four guards tonight. Hopefully Zoellner can be the Meister der Farbe against them.
  4. Am I reading that right? You used to be able to watch all the games in the dorm room 40 years ago? I don't remember being able to do that when I was there although that was 15 years ago.
  5. According to scout.com Chenango Forks OL Matt Faughnan had commited to Albany. He was first team all-state the past few years and was courted by some 1A schools but not offered. He's also playing on his high school basketball team and was goalie in lacrosse. A 6'3 300lb goalie. Here's a few things about him. From ESPN From Scout.com

  7. UAlbany gets its spotlight moment-TU Danes selected to play in BracketBuster-Troy Record VCU to play host to Albany-Richmond Times Dispatch
  8. I agree with 100%. It certainly will be hard to refocus on a conference opponent especially considering this game will probably be hyped out the wazoo. The saving grace could be that Vermont is also a road team in the bracket buster. They'll likely travel just as far and then have to make the trip to Albany on Monday also. I'm hoping the Catamounts get a midnight game on Saturday, at Hawaii. That said this could be a great chance for exposure and a fun chance to see the Danes on ESPN if it happens. Pretty good home game next year also which probably irritates the VCU fans. I think ESPN isn't going to pick which team plays on which network until Feb. 7. Hopefully we can grab some wins over that time and bump up the RPI enough to get to one of the main ESPN or ESPN2.
  9. Sario helps Bearcats belt Albany-Bing Sun and Press
  10. You can never say never but an ESPN game looks unlikely. I think those go to the top 11 teams and Albany is out of that range. Hopefully if it's a good regional game someone will carry it. The Bracket Board has us potentially matched up with Drexel or Northeastern. I'd take either one of those games.
  11. One more story from the Bing paper in case that wasn't enough reading for you. BU's defense fails to contain Albany's Wilson down stretch-Bing Sun and Press
  12. I probably should have know this would be a good day when I ran into Statefan on my way into the Events Center and he handed me his last beer. Then it got better from there. It occured to me after reading the AE Board how impressed people from other teams are with Jamar and how much we have taken him for granted. He had a tough shooting day and missed some shots in the lane he usually makes but drew a ton of attention from Bing. He really set up that last play for Siggers well. I thought for sure Jamar was going to take that shot and apparently so did the Bearcats. One of his five assists and a clutch shot by Jason. Another very good performace for Levi. A very effecient 11 points and some timely rebounds. He also came out after the game and thanked some of the Albany contingent for making the trip down. I'm not sure if anyone else heard it but was the BU Zoo taunting Zoellner when he was injured on the floor? Not sure if I imagined it or heard it and didn't want to believe it.
  13. Binghamton, Albany clash for league lead-Bing Press and Sun UAlbany trip is no pleasure-TU
  14. I'm in Row K also Sarge. Unfortunetly Lady DP has come down with something and will be home on the couch. I'm hoping that whole "in sickness and in health" thing is more of a guideline than an absolute rule.
  15. This is not exactly related but there's a story in today's TU about for hockey player Colin Griffith. Ice tribute, warm memories-TU
  16. for hitting those three pointers. He was 5-5 tonight. Without his shooting the rest of the team was 2 for 20. We were saying after the Vermont game not to expect us to shoot 2 for 15 or whatever we shot in that game. Great to have another scorer step up. I think Siggers is the 7th different leading scorer this season. It was also good to see Zoellner show some emotion after mixing it up with one of the UMBC players. He didn't score much but rebounded pretty well. Seemed like more than the announced 1961 there tonight. Maybe they don't count the students who were plentiful and pretty noise. Sorry to see Bing pull out the win tonight but glad to see them go to double OT. Apparently the students stormed the court after the win.
  17. I agree. Pass the hat around or do what the Pep Band did tonight with their 50/50 drawing. If you're going to pass the jug around you should probably start with the high rollers in the courtside side seats also know as millionares row. Just curious about how much one would cost? $50? $100? I think they have them done at the place on Fuller Road.
  18. I was (mostly) kidding around with the Chinese new year's idea. Your's sounds like a great idea and a sign of a great fan who promotes optimism again when things are looking down.
  19. Wasn't the last sign a Christmas wish? How about "All I want for Chinese New Year is 8 more in a row" Coincidentally 2006 IS the year of the dog.
  20. Would it be presumptous of me to assume there may be some razzing UMBC's locker room banishment by the Rowdies tonight?
  21. Brown hopes meetings work-TU Danes need victory to stop A-East tumble-Troy Record
  22. Despite how I felt about the officiating yesterday I was glad to see Brown didn't mention it as a factor after the game. He seems to try and set a good example for his team although to be honest I wouldn't mind seeing him lose it with the officials on occasion. What I found frustrating was watching this team get away from some of the things it was doing well earlier this year. Namely clamping down on defense, passing well and getting the ball inside. It seemed like something good happened nearly every time they passed inside but got away from it for long stretches. Zo and Brent were a combined 11/16 from the field for 25 pts and I thought they could have really punished UNH had they stayed with them more. I'm sure the staff has it's reasons for not playing Siggers as much but I was impressed with him again yesterday. He played with a lot of energy and sensible agression. When he is in there with Jamar it seemed to put pressure on the defense to pay attention to two guys who can drive and score.
