  1. Nice to see Joe go off! Nichols seems to be playing very soft D
  2. Kalamazoo is a great town. My dad went there for college and I recently visited. The town has one of my favorite Bluegrass bands - Redtail Ring and Bell's Brewery, one of my favorite beer brewers. Got to see the band and get fresh brew at same place. https://www.bellsbeer.com/eccentric-cafe A little slice of heaven.
  3. I think that we did get a bit off put by it (zone) in the first half. Also, the zone press slowed us down to a stupor for a while. CB seemed to just accept it while Yale bridged a 10+ pt lead to 4.
  4. Watching this, i like our team. I bet we out tough them big time.
  5. Dang it, watched all the way through 1st OT! Fantastic result
  6. Iiiiiiiiiiiit's OPENING GAME DAY. I'm pretty excited for this team. If Clark and Foster gell quickly, I think we have a great OOC. If not with no surprises, I don't much care, just want to get to conference play. Oh, and beat $iena.
  7. In a different thread I assumed Iona would press. Which by reputation, the WV game, and Iona's fast pace, is not be a terrible assumption. But, WB didn't mention that at all in his radio call in this week and I guess it's not a given that an O oriented team would press hard. Might take the wind out of them for offense. Anyone have better insight here?
  8. WB said on the radio that we scored a ton of points against a team from a higher league. Offense is better than defense right now (as is usual early in the season.) Iona plays at a faster pace than anybody in AE Well, we know Iona will press. WB's big coaching weakness IMO. Hope the WV game got them prepared.
  9. I'm a proud liberal and proud that this country tries to remedy historic ills. Our university uses public dollars and those dollars need to be spent equitably. There is no god or law (unless you live in 'bama) proclaiming football as outside that basic premise. I am one of "these" people and if you are afraid of getting buried by snowflakes, go seek counseling.
  10. Pres. Rodriguez told TU audience anout 3 year plan to address T9 issue. AD Benson in attendance but no specifics
  11. Yes, but there aren't that many compared to the roster size. Men's lacrosse has 44 on the roster, women 28. 35 baseball players, 25 softball. 28 men on the soccer team, 21 women. Football can give up to 63 scholarship equivalencies to as many as 85 players, but has 99 listed including redshirts. Golf, field hockey, and volleyball have pretty small rosters. Whether it's because the games are played differently (size of pitching staffs, e.g.), or because women are less willing to walk on and go through practice knowing they may never get much playing time, I don't know. I recruited for T&F, both M&W, and the young women are much more reluctant to continue sports after high school - there are a variety of reasons. That being said, the obvious bogie man from the numbers above is FB. FB is sooo expensive, so all domineering in time, energy, numbers, ... even this liberal thinks it needs to have some weird designation outside of Title IX. Of course I think all $ sport D1 scholarships should have lifetime academic vouchers. If a sport reaches a certain budget threshold (where it's obvious the college wants it to be a revenue sport) then it goes minor league pro, the athletes choose the "student" part while competing but can finish the student part at any time. Solves most problems
  12. $ over evetything. Disallow corporate $ to coaches in a punishment. Cut budget in 1/2 for a few years. Maybe change the climate
  13. Dang, Yale looks way better than SU, and then, lol. It really is, as much or more than Bball, a game of runs.
  14. The all powerful and devouring monster of Football claims another MAC school.
