  1. How much are Siena season tickets? Anyone know? Not that I'd buy them, I'm just curious.
  2. I added my second post about it being the best value around because I didn't want it to seem like I was complaining. My seats on Syracuse would be $820 each plus a $10,000 donation payable over 5 years. I know UA is not Syracuse, but from a value perspective there is nothing like that.If you have good seats, I bet you could get $100 each for them if you sell to a $iena fan and you end up ahead. It's $100 increase for 2 seats at 10-12 home games. Thats only a couple bucks a seat a game. Seems cheap to me.
  3. Still the best value around, and it makes sense with $iena being a home game.
  4. Looks like season ticket prices are up about 33% this year... Got the renewal email a few minutes ago... Already excited for the new season!
  5. I agree that rebounding in the America East is less about height and vertical and more about position, sheer desire, and strength. I was looking ahead to being the eventual AE Champs again and wondering how the team will perform in the OOC and the post season. My desire for a big has less to do with rebounding and more to do shot blocking and overall defense. UA lost the Siena game last year in large part because the team was just not able to match up with the bigs. with Charles and Peters out for that game the team had to go small and as soon as there was foul trouble the team didn't have much to replace Stire and Rowley with. Ennema did a serviceable job at the SF position later in the season, but he just isn't a big man. When is the last time UA had a true shot blocker?
  6. Looking at the roster as it stands right now... this team badly needs another big man. Rowley at 6'8" and Stire at 6'7" and everyone else is 6'6" or shorter. Should be fine in league play, but it would scare me in OOC and the NCAA when Brown gets his 6th this season...
  7. Awesome story. Sounds like a great kid and should fit in well. On the Brown thing... I know it relates to recruiting, but can we move that discussion to the will brown thread and keep this about the players? We all seem to want him back, but the conversation sounds like negotiating for him.
  8. I'm concerned there doesn't seem to be any 4 year players joining the squad, but some of the JUCO players look nice. Cochran had offers from Buffalo, Rice, Oakland, Kent State, and Dayton among others... 3 of the 4 commits will have 3 years of eligibility left. Hopefully WB can get a freshman to sign as well. My bet is that the team starts slow in the OOC but pulls it together and once again competes for a league title.
  9. Maybe a good recruit? http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2634593-69-high-school-basketball-player-who-may-actually-be-30-years-old-arrested?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=programming-national?is_shared=true Kidding BTW
  10. Has the school put out any press releases yet on either signing? Those 2 look good, and some of the other rumored players look great to, but I always feel more comfortable once it is officially official!
  11. Just saw this on twitter as well. I didn't know there was a D1 program there. Looks like they have only been D1 since 08 and have never made the tournament. Considering his comments in that other article this commit doesn't make much sense unless he isn't as good as I thought or he felt he wouldn't get playing time...
  12. Can we get him? I doubt lol... http://www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/index.ssf/2016/04/kaleb_joseph_transferring_from_syracuse_basketball_report.html#incart_article_small
  13. McKinley leaving is sad. He filled out a lot during the year and he seemed explosive during warm-ups. I'm really sad to see big Rich go. No matter how much time he got he was always my favorite player to watch in the post. I really thought he wouldn't see much more time next year because I thought McKinley would eat most of his minutes. I wonder if Peters starting looking because he knew Rowley and Stire were still starting and thought he would lose time with the freshman who ended up leaving. (Eligible immediately means he graduated though right?) I won't panic yet, but the rumors of WB leaving that I have heard while speaking with some people who are much closer than I am may have more teeth than I thought? If the players think he is leaving maybe it makes them nervous and start looking elsewhere?
  14. Based on the video, he does look like a great get. The thing that I notice first is how quick his release is on his outside shot. Forget the athleticism and the dunks they showed. The AE has had some athletic freaks, but you don't see that kind of release in this league that often. I'm surprised he doesn't have more higher level offers. I would love to see him come in. Anyone have any info on Jakub Mijakowski? I know he was highly thought of when he visited, but I have heard nothing about him other than thoughts he might go to GCU? I also wonder how many recruits scan boards like this one when choosing schools...
  15. I think someone disagreed with me rooting for SBU in the tournament because I felt that giving Warney more press would help his draft stock and thus help him play at the next level and thus help recruiting for all schools in the conference. It looks like I was right in my assessment. An America East player making the NBA for the first time since 06 really could sway this type of player into thinking he can move on after starring in the AE instead of riding the pine in the ACC... Whether Warney makes it or not has absolutely nothing to do with whether Albany lands any of the kids they are recruiting. Smh. You have NO IDEA what you are talking about. Honest to god. There's nothing to talk about. If a player has NBA talent he's going to make it to the NBA no matter where he plays. There's mid major NBA players all over the place. I think you are misunderstanding the point.Last comment on this as it is directly related to recruiting. I'm sorry I brought it up in the first place. Long story short:yes there is NBA talent everywhere, and if a kid is good enough to make it, he will make it anywhere. That said 99.99999% of kids aren't good enough. But that doesn't mean they don't have dreams of it and want to make every effort to get better and make it. If you are talented, learning and growing as player, want to make a run at playing professionally but aren't quite a top 100 recruit yet - and you have multiple college offers: which school do you choose: A: be a role player or sit the bench for a team that is in a big time conference knowing you can pay your dues and play against the best, but possibly be recruited over for a 1 and done phenom each year B. A school in a mid-major conference that is good and maybe you get to the tournament during your career. The conference hasn't had a player go to the NBA in over a decade. You can get playing time right away. C. A mid major team that has been dominant in their league, you can play right away and make an impact, have a good shot at playing in the tournament multiple years, and their league has produced players who got enough press to get drafted. Most kids I have met and I have seen in following college basketball will choose choice A as the big schools are more prestigious to brag to their friends about. Some will choose C because the coach recruiting them did a good job of selling them on the opportunity of being a big fish in a small pond. Choice B would only be chosen by those that don't have the option of A or C or have some connection to the choice B school. From the looks of that article: Johnson is hoping to vet an offer from choice A, but is happy to look at option C. He doesn't want choice B.
  16. Except this particular kid specifically says he will choose based on the best route for continuing to play after college. Not sure how you don't see that a recent America East player in the NBA doesn't affect that perception. Are you sure you went to UA and not HVCC?

  18. Which is Click? Is it Max? He looks like the winner. I can take him if Oklahoma beats Nova.... There are 2 groups I see - standings of the two:
  19. Don't forget you can vote every day. Cremo was behind by a few percentage points yesterday, looks like he pulled ahead. These on-line polls really mean nothing, but the team has been behind it and have tweeted about it. Get behind it and show the local boy some love
  20. Might order, wish it came in purple though instead of white.
  21. Under 2 minutes to play and it looks like Yale might pull off the first big upset (5/12 game) of the tourney. Albany only beat them by 34 in the early season...
  22. In my opinion it would help recruiting more than UA winning a game yes. I am apparently in the minority in that opinion, but I know that if you want the team to get multiple 3 and 4 star recruits you have to show them opportunity to continue to play. yes 99.99% of them will never have a shot of playing at the NBA level - but those kids are the best of the best of the best in their areas. They are state players of the year. They are MVP's. They have spent their lives always being the absolute best in their areas. If you think these kids don't have playing professionally in the back of their minds while being recruited then you are missing something. I couldn't walk on to a D2 baseball team after being all-section in high-school yet I still dreamed of playing MLB. If I was good enough to be highly recruited by multiple D1 schools I most definitely would have chosen the school that would have given me the best opportunity to go pro - even if it was a million to one shot. No NBA players from the AE since 06 and none that played for a team that is still in the AE since 1993 = the current version of the conference is one that even mid-level prospects don't want to go to.
  23. That's because the AE has had 0 players with NBA prospects over that period. What we have shown recruits is that this is a good place to play if you want a good education and possibly continue a career overseas. Warney can be a recent example that can be used by AE coaches when recruiting higher ranked players. "Look it can happen here in the AE, and I think you might be good enough to follow in his footsteps, make an impact right away instead of fighting for minutes in the ACC or Big East" Obviously they need to still recruit quality students that will fit culturally, succeed in the classroom, and not be tempted to transfer out after a year, but him getting press and hopefully drafted can help the AE. A win in round 1 helps his draft stock, especially if he has a big game against a big school or two. Hooley's shot was great exposure for UA and added name recognition but a UA win in the tournament wouldn't have helped UA (much less the conference) get any higher level recruits. A recent NBA success story would.
