  1. Can anyone explain or post a link to the replay rules in NCAA basketball? I don't think the officials went to the monitors once. I'd feel much better about the calls if they went to check on some of them. When the house is packed, and a call goes against the home team, the emotion in the room has an affect on the fans perception of calls, so they may not have been as bad as they felt, but I found myself wanting to throw something at those zebras that seemed to be constantly on their knees blowing the game.
  2. Campbell is still raw, but improving quickly. The 3 sophomore starting guards could be very scary for the rest of the AE for the next 2 years. At least that much is something to be happy about. If Nichols is off, this team plays very average. Cremo seemed afraid tonight. Not sure if the ankle is still bothering him, but something wasn't right. He has been tentative for a while now. How many minutes did Charles play in the second half? Is he OK? Stire has improved mightily, but Charles is by far the most offensively talented big that the team has. He should have been on the floor. Last comment on Nichols: I love watching him play when he is on, but I'm starting to get the same feeling watching him that I got when Suero was here. Super talented, but not really playing a team game. Forcing too much and having it hurt the continuity of the offense. Off to the next. Keep getting better. Hopefully everyone is playing well come tournament time.
  3. The Vermont game did seem significantly better attendance wise than the announced crowd was, but the numbers have felt lower overall. Re: the shot, and clicks comment: ditto I hate to say it, but one of the best moments of that game was watching the raucous SBU crowd completely motionless and silent. I know that's mean, but
  4. Attendance seems to be down fairly significantly this season. Not sure why, as even though the teams record isn't overwhelming, the product has been good.
  5. Didn't know where else to put this, but in case you didn't see... someone actually said something nice about sefcu arena... http://www.midmajormadness.com/2017/1/23/14359720/mid-major-madness-road-trip-day-3-albany-great-danes-basketball-hall-of-fame
  6. With a couple minutes left on the clock, UA got a stop and Charles grabbed the board. It seemed like UA might have a run in them after all. Charles outletted the ball to Cremo who had turned his back to run the court. Ball goes out of bounds, VT gets the ball back and the TO kind of ends the mini rally (if I remember the situation correctly). I wonder if this is the play that caused the argument?
  7. The D looked very strong tonight against a very very good team. Shots just didn't fall.
  8. Looking at this roster, current, and potential recruits, it's hard to not be excited about this team for the next few years.
  9. He looks pretty highly ranked. (#53 positional and 2.7) I would think that would make him one of our higher rated recruits if he were to sign. Looks like a potential great get. With 3 very strong recruits already coming in, and only losing 3 seniors in Rowley, Ennema, and Andrews, I'd have to imagine that losing more than 1 to transfer wouldn't be too hard to imagine. The players that are getting a lot of playing time now are young. Guys that are sitting now may not see a clear path to lots of playing time, and could leave for more PT elsewhere. Nichols, Cremo, and Campbell are sophomores. Cochran was supposedly the most talented of the new guys this year, and he is listed as a sophomore as well. Not sure if he'll be a Junior next year or if he will be able to medical redshirt? It wouldn't surprise me if the team lost Martin-Garcia in addition to Grayson. Would love to keep them both as they both have shown ability, but these days kids change schools very often.
  10. I overheard someone who sits a row or 2 behind me say: That kid Nichols is so good we are gonna change his name to Dimes. Kind of a silly joke, but it made me giggle.
  11. This will probably be the hardest and best home game of the year. Hopefully the place fills. SEFCU can be the hardest place to play for road teams when it is packed. The place can be loud. I think my ears are still ringing from the SBU game at home last season. The team has looked very good these last 3 games, but only UMBC was a "good win". We will know a lot about this team after Wednesday night.
  12. Dallas is dressed but didn't warm up. Any news on him? Is it his back? Don't want to lose his shot.
  13. Regardless if we lost 85-3 in the game, it's always fun to host the national champs.
  14. Looks like JMU released its schedule. No Albany on it. Mixed bag of news. We don't have to face the national champs, which is nice, but the last time we played them was there 2 seasons ago, so I was hoping we would get to see them at Casey. Also, as I said before, my coworker is their QB's uncle so that could have been fun for interoffice rivalry.
  15. Any updates on Jamir Andrews injury? What about Martin-Garcia?
  16. This team has the talent to play with anyone in the league, and certainly has a chance to make noise and possibly win the conference tournament. We have all seen it in stretches. They have had a lead, or at least been within 3-4 points, in every single game halfway through the second half or later (with the exception of Canisius). This includes SMU and Cincinatti - both big conference schools. They can play very well in spurts. While they could make a post season run, they better start a winning streak now or even if they do happen to get hot at the right time (as WB teams seem to do) they would most likely get a PIG game or a #16 at best. The defense has obviously been horrid on the perimeter, but just as concerning to me is how bad the shot selection has been at times. Not to pick on Nichols as he is a great talent, but when UA was making a run last night he made some bad decisions trying to do too much. While that pull up 3 in transition would have been huge if it fell, it was not a good spot to take that shot. There were a couple others that just made me scratch my head. Also, I don't think I saw it mentioned. Any idea why we didn't see Lands last night? I couldn't attend the game because of another commitment so I gave my tickets to an employee, but I did watch the entire game on ESPN3. It was loud where I was so I couldn't hear the croud all that well - but how bad did it get with all of the obviously blown calls? Give the NH player the continuation then say Rowley was fouled before the shot on the next possession? WTF. I think there was 4 blown calls within a few minutes time. As I said last night to the people I was with - Brown should try to shake stuff up with the UMBC game. Kind of like how he started Ennema over Nichols earlier in the year. Even if it is just for the first 5 minutes of the game. Being on the road is the perfect spot to send a message even if it costs the team another shot at a win. The team needs a shot in the arm... Start Anderson, Dallas, Campbell, Charles, and Lands Tell the rest of the team that they can go into the game when they promise to play D
  17. I always call for travels in 200, and Im just a few rows behind you Eli. I'm not as loud as others at most points, but you are probably thinking of me
  18. I just threw up. Part of me wants to watch the ending again to see what happened, but that was just nuts. I'm not sure why Brown didn't call a time out earlier. You could feel it slipping away when it was within 10. So many stupid turnovers. The team just couldn't handle the press and they fell apart.
  19. speaking of stats... some interesting info found on this site.... http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/america-east/2017.html you can expand all of the categories to see where everyone stands. Since it is still OOC play and all of the levels of competition between teams has been different, the comparisons dont mean much, but there is some great info - especially if you look at just the UA team. (credit where credit is due: I found the site from someone post on the LCC board)
  20. Not sure why he didn't start, but when he came out for warm-ups and when he entered the game he looked like he wasn't into it at all. Maybe a fire will be lit at halftime.
  21. I know. I've been watching. Very exciting for him and for the CAA having a shot a national title
  22. I'm not sure how the conference schedules work. Albany played at JMU 2 years ago. Would that mean they will be in Albany next season? I'm asking because a coworker's nephew is their qb (Schor) and I'm curious if they will be here next season during his senior year.
  23. Interesting, he isn't on their roster on their site, but verbal commits and ESPN still have him there. That's too bad. It's nice to see local kids play.
  24. Wheeler sat out a year per transfer rules, thus missing last season. From what I found online over the summer, it appears he was suspended and then left for personal reasons. Too bad, he had a lot of talent. Anyone know where McKinley ended up? I think I heard he was gonna do juco or a lower level program for a year then try to transfer back to D1? The other guy you are talking about on UMBC is Joel Wincowski. He appears to still be on the UMBC roster and is averaging a few minutes a game. Seems like he is one of those guys that was a star in high school, but the skills that made him great don't translate well to D1. For instance you could be a 75%, dead aim 3 point shooter in high school: but if you have a slow release, you are gonna get blocked 75% of the time in D1.
