  1. Haven't checked the other forum where the VT fans frequent - anyone complaining like this like our fans do? LOL On the AE board they accept that the reason is lack of room, not "security". Plus the temp in the upper rows will be in the 90s 90's? Man, what kind of dump am I goin to? What is this? The 1940's? Next you'll tell me there is a thick cloud of smoke at the top of the building like in the old footage of the ABA/NBA. LOL. If it's 8° outside the building and over 90° inside it, do you think the pressure on the walls will enable the old building to withstand the tremendous differential?
  2. Are there any concrete plans in Burlington for a new place to play? UVM fans have been discussing this topic for well over a decade.
  3. All UA assistants have a degree from UA - Josh Pelletier was a grad asst not a player Duke is the only other program that has assistant coaches who all graduated from the school. I'm sure it won't be the last internet rumor but the CB to Quinnipiac is too goofy. The nice facilities make for better recruiting is kind of a strange argument in both the MAAC and the AE. Siena and Quinnipiac probably have the best facilities in the MAAC but it's Iona that's the dominant program with not so great facilities. Same thing in the AE, Vermont and Albany have won the most conference championships through the past 15 years and are probably in the middle of the pack or below when it comes to facilities. Don't forget Fairfield the other maac team that plays in a rented arena also has nicer facilities than lcc. Like you said there is more to winning than just having nice facilities or in lcc case a big empty arena As I mentioned earlier, it's a choice of bags or banners.
  4. Yes, who really cares? The good side is that we have a better chance of winning a game. Our only NCAA victory was through a playoff game. On the other hand, I think a win over UVM would allow us to avoid the game. Not only would it be a quality win at the end of the season, but I think the selection committee rewards teams that have already been to the Dance. Whether the appearances have to be consecutive or not, I don't know.
  5. As far as the difference in the appearance of the venues between UA and LCC, my motto has been: "Banners are better than bags."
  6. I really like it when the other Capital Region team has to clean out its lockers for the season before UA does. Isn't it great that both our men's and women's teams will continue to be playing in March?
  7. Here's the link to the rest of the article. It details other years when UA got in the last word. http://www.newsday.com/sports/college/stony-brook/archrival-albany-eliminates-stony-brook-in-america-east-tourney-1.13219300
  8. The following excerpt is from the Long Island Newsday on tonight's game: "Consider this the official rite of passage for all of Stony Brook’s new players and coaching staff. You’re not really one of the Seawolves until Albany breaks your heart, or at least your stride." I love it!
  9. I can't find any article in the Times Union today about yesterday's game, at least in the online version.
  10. I'll just quickly add my two cents on the recruitment/retainment discussion. I'm quite sure Coach Brown recruits someone to stay with the program. From his point of view, why would he invest all this time, effort, and the school's budget on getting someone who's not in the system for the long term. Then more effort is required to bring the student/athlete up to speed to integrate into Brown's system. Brown has a substantial piece in making sure his choice works out.
  11. This. This is their championship to lose...they have to be the 99% favorite to win the championship. I'll be shocked if they don't. Maybe someone in the tournament can "pull a Hartford" on UVM.
  12. I think UA now has a good shot at 20 victories for the season. I wasn't too sure about it early in the conference season.
  13. UA women beat Maine at home 64-60. Four of ours in double figures. Good enough to avenge an earlier season loss.
  14. I'm with you on this score. UA builds up a big lead at SBU, then collapses, but at least it was close at the end. Then loses by a bigger margin at home later on. Loses at home to UNH, but posts a big win on the road later on. Will the real UA team please stand up?!
  15. Yes, I'm already looking forward to next year when we get some more gritty Australians.
  16. Sorry, I cannot be at SEFCU tonight. I hope the Danes run SBU out of the building. From the comments made by team members since the first game this season, the team should be ready to inflict a terrible loss on the opponent. I also hope you guys here on the forum who can attend tonight have a great time. BTW, I saw no article in the Times Union either yesterday or today on the game.
  17. Just an echo from UA'08, any idea on ticket sales for tomorrow night?
  18. I apologize for posting twice on the topic, but I did not read enough into the relatively short article. Here's more news on Clary. My thoughts go out to Mrs. Clary and family. "As is often the case, the back stories of some of the top runners were more intriguing than the competition itself. Clary, for example, was told on Friday night that his mother, back in their family home in Albany, had suffered a stroke. He was in the airport by 4 a.m. Saturday for the first flight out, then returned on a 5:50 p.m. flight after seeing his mother and learning she had not sustained serious complications and was going to be OK. Clary said she demanded he return to South Florida for the race. His plane was delayed and he didn’t get back to Miami until midnight — six hours before the start. “I was in a panic the whole time,’’ Clary said. “But it was a mild stroke.’’ Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/outdoors/article129449119.html#storylink=cpy
  19. I don't know whether I should place this announcement in the spring or fall sports. It appeared on the online version of the Miami Herald regarding today's Miami Marathon/Half Marathon. To give you an idea of the scale of the event, 23,000 runners participated. "The runner-up in the half marathon was Ethan Clary, 27, of Doral. Clary, a former NCAA runner at the State University of New York at Albany, finished in 1:09:58." Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/outdoors/article129449119.html#storylink=cpy
  20. What a disappointing game. I hope the team develops a lot more in the next month.
  21. I missed the game, too. For me, the result was a bigger shock than the SBU loss. Glad to see much improvement from many members of the team. I hope that other players will be allowed to pick up for Nichols and Cremo. That bodes well for fewer injuries to the two of them.
  22. Wow! UA beats PSU in men's basketball, and now we're poaching their football players. Keep that pipeline open!
