  1. from Laura Amato http://sportsontherecord.blogspot.com/2015/02/ualbany-football-releases-2015-slate-of.html
  2. NOVA game on Oct 17 - could just catch a peek of the schedule at the end of the press conference
  3. MsGDG - can you post descriptions of the items in the silent auction. We will be out of town but I may phone a friend to place a bid.
  4. Free? No. $9.95 for the College Sport Live monthly package at http://www.wkusports.com/collegesportslive/ on the WKU site The Lady Toppers were #2 in ESPN's preseason Mid-Major poll, Marist was 9th, Albany 12th http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/11862523/preseason-mid-major-top-10-poll That appears to be an audio feed - NO VIDEO?
  5. I was thinking that, but is the "aura" of the Big Purple Growl enough on its own, or does it need a bigger named team to get people there? Or you lose to a team that 80% of casual basketball fans haven't even heard of, and more interest is lost in the programs. The better solution would be to schedule the best, AND to beat the best, right? Wrong - schedule a team that won't otherwise put butts in the seats this is the business side of the game not wins/losses I may be way off but I don't see the new AD being too impressed with the PPG approach I believe that he will want to know why our attendance isn't at BPG numbers for most if not every home contest. He will challenge the Smalbany mentallity
  6. Why don't we use the Flag poles at the ramp entrance? They interfere with the end zone camera on the lift at the top of the ramp. Seems like a minor design flaw.
  7. Ouch - not a good start for the Brook. Hope we have a much better showing on Saturday. I am impressed by their attendance figure for the night - 10,252
  8. Show me the money and I'll show you an expanded stadium. Maybe now the stadium naming rights will go forward.
  9. The Sarge started at Albany in the Fall of 1984, thirty years later I have finally finished the requirements for my bachelors degree. I had the opportunity to finish my last 3 credits in a Sociology research seminar with DJ Evans, Gary Johnson and a few other athletes from varsity squads. My years at Albany have helped me to navigate a 25+ year career in law enforcement. Way back when, I was a student assistant coach with the volleyball team (only the head coach was paid). It has been a long rewarding trip. I would like to thank everyone who supports the University and its teams. I would like to give a special tribute to Dave (Brink) Brinkerhoff who I spent many summer classes and good times with (www.brink5K.com). He was taken from us way to early giving his life in the line of duty. I have always been and will always be proud to be a Great Dane.
  10. What a year for the Great Danes - getting my tickets for Hofstra.
  11. Who cares...? Let them do what they gotta do...good for them I guess. Click is right - that's how the CBI operates 4th tier tournament but a place to play if you're willing to pay - whatever...
  12. Maybe you haven't been around since the first NCAA appearances but Will Brown is NOT going to Manhattan with the bonuses he made close to $350K last year (in the Capital District that is GOOD money) base pay was just under $300K Listen to what the man says - he is not even looking at this point Listen to the Francesa interview in one of the other threads - Coach Brown lays it right out
  13. Not Georgetown - that program is a mess and the Big East is not what it once was. If Coach Abe leaves it will be Big 10, Big 12, SEC , ACC or maybe Pac 12 - these are conferences that routinely have multiple bids in the women's tournament. I mean more than 2 teams on a regular basis.
  14. Much more concerned about Coach Abe leaving. I think that Brown is truly happy with his situation, it's what he says to anyone willing to listen. His priorities have changed since the first 2 trips to the dance.
  15. It will happen when the stadium is sold out every game AFTER phase 2 is completed. Maybe until then they can allow orders from fans like you and me when they do the team order
  16. (15) Albany v (2) West Virginia Sunday 03/22 3:00 PM ESPN West Virginia not as good as the Duke team we played in regular season, but this would be an epic win. No 15 seed has ever beaten a 2 seed in the women's tournament. Just like the men - these Danes expect to win. Let's go Danes
  17. We were a 14 last year and this year our record is NOT as impressive, our conference is NOT as good. At least we are not going to Storrs. All of this is building to next year.
  18. Dr McElroy does not put buy-out clauses in the coaches contracts. He allows them to pursue a higher level job if that is what they are looking for. Coach Abe has made this a much more attractive job than it was previously. We will get very good candidates if she moves on. With all of that she is special and I hope she stays.
  19. Kansas State job is open, women's coach was making about $600 K, the Big 12 is a multiple bid conference. Moving to the CAA is not going to keep Coach Abe IF she is looking to move up. I say IF because I don't know what she wants. As for Coach Brown - he may be comfortable staying here no matter if we stay in the AE or move to the CAA.
  20. doesn't matter if it is free or not - someone has to work at getting butts in the seats everyone gets to vote for free and yet only 60% voted in last election for POTUS
