BPF - Yahoo Bracket Challenge

Recommended Posts

Guys & Gals,

I've set up a bracket challenge group (Big Purple Fans) over at Yahoo to compete in a bracket picking challenge for BPF bragging rights. Since everyone on here has proclaimed (whether expressly or impliedly) their college basketball expertise, I figured this is a good way to show your stuff!

See sign-up directions below.

The biggest loser has to buy everyone a beer at the Varsity Club tent for the first football game next year.

:D

1. You will need to have a Yahoo! account in order to register your team. You may only create one team per Yahoo! ID. If you wish to create multiple teams, you must create multiple Yahoo! IDs (this process is free and very easy to do).

2. To create a Yahoo! account, please click on this link and follow the steps: https://edit.yahoo.com/registration?.intl=us&new=1&.done=http%3A//mail.yahoo.com&.src=ym

3. Once you have a Yahoo! ID, you can join the league by clicking this link and following the steps:

http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com/...498&P=danes

Group ID: 125498

Password: danes

4. There are a total of 5 brackets in which you will have to select your picks (East, West, Midwest, South, Semis & Finals).

5. All picks must be made before the tip-off of the first game on March 20th.

bob,

Just to clarify....I'm not saying I'm gonna pick them.

I picked em...the majority of the SEC is overrated.

We will see about that on friday.

But, I can't pick them even if they were playing winless NJIT. It is just wrong to pick them.

I did not and I'll explain why. I'm trying to win this thing so I'm simply playing percentages. Is it possible? YEH, if they can put together a spectacular game but I ran through some simulations on ESPN sites and did just a surface scan of the match up and realized this would be a tall order. Not impossible but very tough!

Agreed.

I've tried to win many of these bracket competitions over the years and have realized one thing: It's like picking horses at Saratoga.....I go pick up the program, study the horses racing history, watch the walk about to see which horse poops (they're lighter after that you know..... :D ), and make "educated" bets. My wife goes, picks based solely on the silks and names she likes.

Guess who wins more....my wife.

Thanks Danefan, for setting this up on Yahoo. I've done it in the past and was asleep at the wheel this year.

Now I have a chance to show how horribly I can pick. I tend to have an overwhelming East Coast bias in my picks and always favor mid-majors so I never have a decent looking bracket.
