Practice Starts Friday!

Recommended Posts

Will any of the practices be open to the public? I don't seem to remember in the past any being open to the public. It would be nice if one or two were open every other week or something. I know Coach Brown has a ton of work to do to mold this team into a cohesive unit with all of the new guys coming in but it could help to tie some of us over until the real games start.

Generally, just the scrimmage before the homecoming football game is open to the public.

There should be plenty of other sports to keep you busy until the basketball season starts.

Coach prefers scrimmages, which can be controlled so you work on what you want to, while in exhibitions competitive spirit takes over and you end up just trying to win the game.

He will have a couple of 'open' practices this year, notification in advance to known invitees. They often have high school coaches watching, but once somebody was scribbling notes and turned out they were connected to another college.

About 20 players have signed up for the alumni game at 1:00 10/25 including Brent Wilson, Lucious Jordan, and going back to Andre Duncan, Jason Graber Darrin Jahnel and at least two of the three Zuklies. The Purple and Gold game of the current players will be at 2:00.

He schedules games like Duke, UCLA, and Kansas so every player thru the program will have an experience he'll never forget. Said he 'almost' has another such game nailed down for next year.

Wants to play more uptempo this year, but you can't do that if you don't rebound and play defense.

Happy not to be in the Bracketbuster this year, says none of the AE coaches really want to play nonconference games late in the season.

Feels the league is really improved this year, seven teams could beat any other on a given night (wouldn't name the other two).

He's a lot more worried about all the league's returning players than about the transfers coming in, though Stony Brook has a post player who's 6-7, 320 so we better beat him down the floor.
