Baseball goes for the sweep of defending America East champs Maine today. No matter what happens today, UA has won both weekend series and the team has very quietly earned 10 conference wins including a win over Stony Brook. The team is playing some of its best baseball of the year and the pitching is peaking at the right time. If they make it the conference championship this year, I believe that will be 4 or 5 years in a row.. Dont be fooled by their overall record, they play an insane out of conference schedule. How about it.....some new facilities for baseball when they win it all?

GD87 nobody on this board disagrees with you.

But outside personal donations where is the money going to come from?

It took over a decade waiting for Stadium and track funds.

Lets hope they move the pressbox and stands from soccer, that could be a solid improvement but (I like you) would much rather see a real baseball structure.

Just remember always double the cost because of Title IX Softball DESERVES equal facilities.

Patch.....I understand.....but a small faction of the 24 million dollars is from donations. It is mostly from the state. Just because the athletic department administration ignored the facilities issue for so long, why should any individual sport suffer. I also realize the baseball and softball produce no revenue so it is totally sustained by the university unlike football and basketball. It is just time that the issue is placed on the table for the generation of suitable solutions by the schools administration. Just like many complained about here, better facilities bring better recruits. While it shouldn't matter, I know it does.

I agree the issue has to be addressed but to my knowledge the State just doesn't turn over money to the school and say do what you want with it. The recent money from the state is pretty much earmarked for the facilities in the package.

Any new State monies will have to come from further deliberations with the state and as we have seen in the past that's a long laborious process.

The former pressbox and bleachers were moved and re-assembled at the baseball field last week. The stadium construction paid for the moving and drop-off at the ball field - Athletics bore the financial responsibility to hire a bleacher company to re-assemble the systems. Don't worry, all facilities are targeted for an upgrade based on the Sasaki Athletic Master Plan, but the quesion is when and how will it be paid for.

How does it look, and who can take a few photos of the baseball field now?

If you sit on the left side, the third base un-dugout blocks the view of the left field corner. Sightline is better down the first base line.

Meanwhile, sod is being laid today on the practice fields

Call me crazy but the soccer stands look good at the baseball field. How many people can now sit at the game? It is definitely nicer than our nearest D1 rival

However look at

SBU http://www.goseawolves.org/facilities/ston-10-nathan.html

UHartford http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/sportsctr/facilities-baseballfield.html

when seeing what our competition is doing we are falling behind. Aside from UMBC everyone else is either getting or has a nicer facility. What type of donation would it take to get a baseball field like SBU or Bing?

The soccer bleachers probably seat a little over 200. You can get elevated aluminum bleachers at around $120 per seat - one example, 184 seats for $21,610 so figure a quarter mill for 2000 seats. I assume other companies would be in the same ballpark. If you want a permanent concrete structure with concessions, lockers, etc. it would of course cost more - 4,500-seat Joe Bruno stadium cost $14 million ten years ago.

It would be nice to have it built from a single design plan, and not just tacking on sections and features on the fly.

Then decide if you want it in the same place - the current field is lower than the pond, and I wonder what drainage is like there.

I haven't been to Joe Nathan field since it was renovated so I haven't seen the 1.3 million dollar upgrades with 500K from Joe Nathan. Looking possible I'll be there Friday before Memorial Day. Danes have to be playing there in a tourney hosted by 1st place team.
