Tickets to Siena game

Recommended Posts

Did anyone notice that the article by Tim Wilkin in the TU about the Siena coach being on the hot seat was taken down. There were a lot of comments but now it has gone missing. I guess the TU is concerned that UA crushing Siena will be the end to the current coach.

They took the blog post down? Wow censorship.

It was still there below some irrelevant post about an LCC player

Siena's obviously still a very very big rival..but it's just not the same (heated) as it was decades ago. I think a lot of current students and recent alumni would just as rather beat the likes of Stony Brook, Binghamton and Vermont.

Years ago both teams were independent small-college teams (or we were in the SUNYAC) and there wasn't really much postseason until the late 60's. Now, a conference championship gets you into the Big Dance, and neither team is really in the running for an at-large. Plus, probably a lower percentage of UAlbany students are locals who stay in the area on weekends.

After the pain of last year's game I decided to take a year off. I check scores and summaries and have enjoyed it so far. Very excited. If we go to the tournament - I'll be there.

As long as our coach tells the paper saying 'this is just another game' I can't respect him. They make us play in their arena, they make us sit in the corners with Stevie Wonder site lines, we have to look at their turdy signs and logos and the logos of their McRivals, they stole our dog mascot out of papal guilt over the whole Indian boys/syphillis scandal, their fat old Albany fans with their fat old wives sit at mid-court with nothing but disdain for UA and see us all as public university socialists, and then we go out an blow 19 point leads to them. And Coach Brown says...its a great rivalry but really its just another game.

I want to be the assistant bench coach next year just for this game. Please start a campaign to give me that honor as my years wane.

“We want to win this game for the University, for our alums, for our students, for our fans, that's why we want to win this game,” said Brown.

Based on that quotation I think it's clear that Coach Brown gets it. If you want him to say something like "yeah, I hate those mother f*ckers" then you might be waiting for a while. Don't need him to call them M**** fer's. That can be implied. :D These are better quotes than what I remember last year. It could partly be because Santillo is a better reporter than anyone at the TU. But What I remember last year was totally downplaying this game before this game while before the Mt St Marys game later on they treated it bigger with quotes saying they wanted to finish ooc with a winning record .

Maybe coach thought last years team wouldn't respond to the pressure of winning for the community while this years team can. I don't know , but I hope so.

The post, toned down somewhat is in today's TU.

Two weeks ago, Brian sent an email that he had 4 tickets in section 103 for $26, and others in 123-126, then last night he told me he had twelve tickets left. So that's the entire allotment for which UA gets credit. Any more money you spend will go to Loudonville.

BTW I suppose there may be student-section seats available, the above only would apply to tickets for sale.

Click the UAlbany tab on the TU website and walla....all you see are stories about $iena.........I guess the staff at the TU don't know the difference between the two. No mention of the girls blowout over NJIT yesterday with the exception of the score. I could swear they were conference champions last year and still........wait for it................nothing!

5700 something @ TU last night; and figure Umass brought something (I don't know) but they are close and have an alumni presents, so say 700 to 1000. Predictions for 12000 Saturday (which I do not believe) and $iena says they are still doing us a favor by scheduling us. GET OUT OF CURRENT CONTRACT AND GET A BETTER DEAL NOW. Without us, they will be hard pressed to average 5000 per game this season.

It's pure laziness and has been that way since they made that "UA" page. Basically they have a spot there that does a search for college basketball stories so both UA and Siena stories always show up there. Not having a story about the women's game though is just stupid.

UAlbany women cruise past NJIT under "Local sports" on the main sports page and under "Women's basketball" on the UAlbany page - but you're right, why there are $iena stories on the UAlbany page baffles me, just like the "College sports" blog only is for basketball

Yeah, I would like him to say something like that. Maybe substitue 'father' for 'mother'. Doc might not have said it - but I always knew he was thinking it.

Anyway, I'm not flying up there for this game anymore. We need a new agreement. Nobody puts Kingdane in a corner.

After the pain of last year's game I decided to take a year off.

Price Chopper Advantage card + nosebleed seats = $13 tickets + My first men's UAlbany basketball game in nearly a year.

After blowing a 19 point lead against an undermanned rival, a year of exile was needed.

I know rivalry games are tightly contested affairs, but this year UA has a win at Washington, and Siena has a loss at Maine. Call me a fair weather fan, but lose this year and I am not coming back to a men's UAlbany game until more attention is given to beating the intra-city rival.

Don't tell me it is just another game when you lose, and dance around the court with the trophy when you win.

We should be and act disappointed any time we lose to these guys. (Notable exception of the senior-laden McCaffery team that didn't even let UA sniff a lead.)
