Hopefully they can keep it close for a half

Can the Great Danes demonstrate some grit and keep it close the whole game?  Most of us are looking at the OOC schedule and looking for winnable games. After LCC's embarrassing loss to Richmond (70-48), is our team capable of taking it to LCC in a couple of weeks?

While a win in this game would be amazing, I don't think anyone expects a win on scoreboard, so the real question is what would we consider a win on the floor?

To me: I want to see ball movement on offense. DKs style seems to leave our players open to attempt ISO and use their skills to score which leads to low assist counts. I'm fine with that style, but it doesn't work well without a lot of ball movement shifting the defense around, allowing the player looking to ISO to have some room. I want to see the extra pass.

The players have shown a lot of grit and energy in chasing loose balls. While the team has been bad in the DK era, I haven't seen anyone questioning the effort, which is great. Need more of that energy spent on positioning and rebounding. Limiting second chance shots will be key to keeping it somewhat close.

Move the ball and rebound, and I'll call it a win even if we lose by 30+

I know we aren't a defensive team, but I'm amazed at the rate the shots have fallen for Seton Hall. Crazy circus shots over half way decent defense. While the team is down 18 at the moment, it doesn't feel like they are being blown out like it did at UMass from minute 1. I'm sure the UML win last night motivated Seton Hall as well.

As I said above in this thread, move the ball and rebound while keeping the energy high. They seem to be mostly succeeding at that so far.

70 percent from the field in the first half.  Wow.

Coaching is defense. Defense is coaching.

We can score.  But we are so bad defensively.

Big East team that's bigger and faster. Need to go to a 2-3 zone and clog the lane. Seton Hall shooting over 70% because they are having no issue getting to the rim with bigger and faster athletes.

Down by 15 and I feel positive at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised if we make it a game in the second half. (Just as likely we are down 30 halfway through the second) but this doesn't feel terrible.

Would love for this to be true.  But it's just flat out not.

On the high ball screen we are leveling off to fast, allowing the point man easy access to the rim.

When the ball hits the middle our help guy comes, however the rest are just watching. This means the second pass is killing us.

This is just two examples of soooo many.

Of course they are more athletic, however our defensive positioning is wayyyyyy off causing most open looks.

The things you mention is why they are getting to the rim with ease. A lot of those rotations are off because we aren't quick enough. Yes positioning is a big part of that as well. It's why I wished we would clog the lane more, potentially with a zone to make Seton Hall beat us from the perimeter.

And I hate zone defense.
