Figured I'd start a new thread since its bound to happen in the next few weeks if not sooner:

Here's a rumor some of us have heard for weeks.

A source tells me Albany is targeting former Delaware head coach K.C. Keeler for its head coaching job. http://tinyurl.com/lnyv65d

The answer is NO. No one can fill Coach Ford's shoes.

Now, will he be a good coach-- I think so...I think if Ford didn't have a "pipeline" we'd be celebrating this hire. Furthermore, if we do sign him it also means that UA is VERY serious about football and expanding the stadium/athletic facilities. Keeler isn't just taking any job.

Well...of course no one is Coach Ford. I really hope UA is serious about football and its facilities. I'm excited about developing these redshirted players and the 2014 incoming class is important as well.

I would not be disappointed if it has already been decided on Keeler for a few reasons:

One...

HCing experience at the CAA/FCS level, multiple national championships, established recruiting pipelines, & being away from the game

for only one short year (gave him a breather, but didn't stay away long).

Two...

He's already prepping for his position at UA. It's still early, and he'll be ahead of the game.

Having been around the college coaching ranks, this would be a terrible hire and truthfully I am sick to my stomach to hear this. Knowing guys that have worked for him, played for him, and interviewd with him, he is everything Albany and the Purple family is not. He is an extremely arrogant individual who players hated playing for. I understand he won two national championships. The first one wasn't even with his team. He stepped into a national champion. The second one he has a Super Bowl MVP QB. Lets not forget that. This hire wins the press conference for people who have no clue. It doesn't win games as consistently as you would think. He was fired from the best job in the CAA and arguably all of FCS. I think it speaks volumes he is not on a sideline coaching this fall. I cannot plead with you guys enough, if you care about this program, do not let this hire happen.

He's polarizing to say the least.

He was not consistent at Delaware, true. But his highs were as high as you can get.

This ain't no joke. If it has already been decided, whomever the hire will be..... I'm SURE that our university has done it's due diligence

on the candidate chosen.

I do recognize that Keeler didn't dominate over the CAA year in and year out, but he did win 2 championships... and one doesn't just win national championships without skill in coaching.

I don't really care who we hire, as long as he brings us national championships and is a class act at the same time.
