  1. Frustrated like the rest of you guys. Was at work today and "witnessed" the game thru Live Stats but have watched all the others. Really since halftime of the Q game, we have stunk it up. Looked like a solid team prior to that especially integrating all the new guys and not sure how the AE schedule will turn out now. Will not blame the road games, always an issue and we fight thru it most seasons. I have to look at individuals and their contributions: Dallas--has regressed from last year. can't hit the broad side of a barn Mike Rowley- as someone else said, not what we thought he would be this year. I would take rebounding, solid "D" inside and putbacks a la Blake Metcalf and we are not getting it. He plays cause he is 6' 8", tallest guy besides out of shape Peters Peter- has not played like the all-conference player he is annointed Singletary and Sanders- still think we left them in Providence and are looking for the bus Wheeler- like the aggressiveness but can't shoot 20% each night Sam-the ONLY guy who has improved since the Q game On to Bucknell. Was hoping for a PA sweep to feel good about the team but 2-6 is staring us in face . Our highlight of the season can't be beating NJIT who beat Michigan. It will be a long season if that is the case.
  2. I have watched all but one game this year and you begin to see how valuable John Puk was in the middle either altering a shot or blocking them. We have none of that this season with Sam and Mike up front. Peters doesn't seem to have a spring in his step to get up quick to block. Opponents are able to get to the rim with ease for layups and simple finger rolls. Will need to rely on the guards to keep slashers in front of them this season with no protection behind them.
  3. Anyone have a link to post-game press conference assuming they had one for both teams?
  4. Was a lousy draw for us. We are the 14 seed technically and Harvard who we beat, is a 11 seed and an at-large. Still think the Canisus loss at home stood out on our resume. P.S. The guy Paul loves us on the selection show. Saw the Thompsons live yesterday and could not believe them. On the other hand, Quint does not like us. Very little respect.
  5. Just got back from the game and boy was it nervewracking. Defense was terrible considering how good it has been the past 5 games. Blaze could not stop a beachball tonight and don't get me started on faceoffs, but I will take the win. Have to play better against UMBC or we are done.. A little Jekyll and Hyde with this team. The problem is we can sometimes play with anyone in the nation and other times we are a train wreck. Just give us one more good game and let us have a shot for a run in the tourney. GO UA!!
  6. The Mount played a brutal OOC schedule with a slew of BCS teams, West Virginia, Villanova, BYU, Michigan St., Penn St., and Texas Tech. Lost many by over 30 pts. but Coach always says that toughens your team for conference play but at 9-7 in the weak NEC, it didn't help them.
  7. Paid for the SU feed and watched the whole game. Gave up 7 goals in first quarter so it looked like defense was the same as last years. We seemed nervous in first quarter. Maybe due to the top 10 ranking and we are now expected to do well and not sneak up on anyone. Gave up 10 goals in last 3+ quarters so we settled down. Blaze gave up some easy ones. Offensively the Thompsons seemed to want to get others involved especially the middies and that may help all season as the Thompsons are marked men. After only one game, its as simple as this: we win faceoffs, we can beat anyone, anywhere. We were 12 for 36 I believe. McNally and Russell shared duties but we can't lose the faceoffs by a 2 to 1 margin. Shore that up and this is a special season.
  8. The Street & Smith College Basketball issue is on newstands now. Under their coverage of the America East on page 132, (of course they picked the Danes to win the conference, Jamar as POY, the Wilsons on all-conference team) they have Carl Ross as Best Newcomer to the conference. Either they have been listening to the glowing remarks from Coach Brown or someone on their staff saw him play at that Jr. college or Fresno St. and feel he is an impact player.
  9. Hello all. With the start of the season just 17 days away, I have my personal thoughts on how the team will do in the first 12 games prior to the AE schedule. I would be satisfied with an 8-4 record after the 12 non-conference games. I am givings us wins against Delaware, Sacred Heart, Brown, Harvard, St. Bonaventure, Cornell, Utah Valley St.. Losses to Bucknell, UConn, and Utah. The 2 toss-ups are VCU and Siena and I went with a split making us 8-4. Anybody with thoughts on this?. Am I too conservative or too optimistic? I know last years start was horrible but I doubt Will Brown will let that happen again. Appreciate your thoughts from this great group of UA fans.
  10. The America East Conference will announce the coaches poll and the preseason all-conference teams for both men and women next Wed., November 1st via a conference call as stated on its website
  11. Was up in the Albany area (from LI) with the family and on Saturday night at the Macaroni Grill on Wolf Rd. when Lillis, Iati, Baumann,, Connelly and Jamar walked in for dinner. Looks like they just finished practice. Gave them a wave but did not go over to their table. They all walked normal so no injuries after the first 2 practices (knock on wood).
  12. I watched it and did not see it and I forgot to record it. Was it his 3-pointer from the corner or another play? Thanks.
  13. Jim Nantz was on Mike and Mad Dog Monday afternoon talking about the past weekends games and the UA/UConn game was brought up. Nantz said God Bless Will Brown and the Great Danes for their effort and how he was hoping history would be made. He said he wished that Albany could go back and replay that last 11 minutes and have the answers to the UConn onslaught. Go to WFAN.COM, click on MIke and Mad Dog and click on the Nantz interview for March 20. His UA comments are at the 11 minute mark on the timer.
  14. That FOX piece was outstanding!!! When the real shining moment plays after the championship game, do you think we will see a key play from from the game such as a Zoellner dunk or a Jamar drive? I would bet on it.
  15. I know the season just ended but I am so excited about next season already and I wish it was November. We pretty much know the roster next season unless someone leaves unexpectingly and of course we need to be lead by Will Brown. Here is my thought on a lineup and key subs. Jamar and Lillis should start in the backcourt again with Iati first sub in and Knight and Anderson backing up unless Coach feels Bauman is ready to play some. Up front, Brent starts of course and have Siggers with him. He has the potential to replace Lu as a swingman with a good shot and athleticism. Backing them up would be Connelly, Anderson as a swingman and Yocum. Finally at center, I will assume Gifford will be ready for D1 ball and can start. If not, I am not comfortable with Covington at center with what I saw this year from him. If Gifford can get us 8-10 points and 7 boards, that will be similiar to what K did for most of this season with hopefully less foul trouble (of course K was a monster Friday night). Does anyone agree with this or have thoughts? Thanks to all on the board for their insights the past few weeks in what was an incredible season.
  16. As a long time Great Dane fan (Class of '83), I am very proud of their effort tonight and the great season they had. This game was a far cry from the old days at University Gym with Doc Sauers roaming the sidelines and Potsdam the big opponent. We have come a long way to Division 1 and hopefully we will be a team to contend with against the "power" teams in the future.
  17. UConn winds up winning it 72-59, but, Christ, did they ever have to work for it. If we're playing anyone else in the field, except maybe Duke or 'Nova, that game goes to the final shot. Once UConn started hitting though, that was it. Hell of a game though, it's gonna get people talking, and it is probably going to get Will Brown some attention from some bigger schools, so lock him in now. 13221[/snapback] what a job they did but i think the pressure got to them with 10 minutes to go because they got out of their offense, turned the ball over, and then UConn did not miss that last 10 minutes. still a valiant effort
  18. Just read that Harrison of Hartford just resigned with no reason given. Can we take back his Coach of the Year award and give to Will Brown? He would appreciate it more.
  19. you can hear the interviews with Calhoun and Will Brown by going to WFAN.com and click on Mike and Mad Dog and you will see a list of every interview from monday
  20. As much as I love our Great Danes, asking for a win against Uconn is asking way too much. The only way we win is if the entire Uconn team comes down with food poisoning before the game and has to forfeit. That doesn't mean we can't play a competitive first half. If you remember, we were down only by 6 to Florida at the half and down by 5 to UCLA at the half. Anything under 10 at halftime would be fantastic but after Calhoun yells at his team at halftime, they will be out for blood in second half. I will be estatic if we lose this game by less than 20 points. We would show the country that we were competitive and a solid mid-major team. Any thougths?
  21. just looked at that Villanova boxscore from 2004 and we shot the heck out the ball without the depth we have now. Know why we lost? Look at the rebounds, 16 for us and 32 for Villanova and Jamar had 8 turnovers.
  22. Way to go boys!!! Great job. Go get Vermont and we can watch Selection Sunday and see where we go.
  23. Danes are rolling along today but it sucks that we can't see some of this great passing they are doing.
  24. Here is a question? The feed has been off and on for us all day but will it be intact when they archive the game on the AE website.
  25. this is BS with the video. at least the pros at ESPN should not "lose" the feed next saturday
