Recruiting

What's with us and Chicago? lol.

We might as well be called the Great Danes of Chicago. lol.

As long as it leads to wins, I'm happy.

Chad O'Donnell..he's a killer Chicago area recruiter.

What all conference type talent have we gotten out of Chicago? None...not yet at least unless one of the kids on the current team develops...impossible to tell right now. I like the inroads that are being made though.

Uthoff and Oglesby from what I've seen would be phenomenal gets...

I hear Marks will probably get to 6'5 by the time he gets here....

Fran Mcaffery is supposedly meeting with Uthoff and Oglesby. He's stealing our recruits!

Sounds like Uthoff has blown up and is out of reach...I hope we can keep Marks. The kid is blowing up big time and at least one team from a power conference has come calling.

If we can make it through the summer AAU circuit with his verbal intact we should be good.

I know like with most recruits, take rankings and such with a grain of salt but him signing would be a big score for the program.

Seems like we better keep and eye on Mr. Marks

From Chicago Hoops

Class of 2011 Plainfield Central star Derrick Marks off Old Gold is already verballed to Albany, and he is continuing to see his recruiting stock skyrocket with strong efforts both at the Nike Spring Showdown In Indiana, and also at the ChicagoHoops.com Spring Tip-Off Classic.

From Joe Henricksen City/Suburban Hoop Report April 2010

Albany picked up a real steal with the early commitment of Derrick Marks of Plainfield Central. Here's hoping the Great Danes can hold onto Marks, a powerful 2-guard who stars for Old Gold, between now and the November signing day. Marks can certainly play at a higher level than the America East. Look for Marks to have a productive spring and summer in the Old Gold backcourt with Riverside-Brookfield's Ryan Jackson.

Yeh, nothing we can do but hope this kid stays committed to UA. Gotta make it through the summer AAU circuit, this kid has a very high ceiling and will be an impact player in the AE.

Let's hope the staff can keep him since I'm sure there will be schools from better conferences bashing the AE and telling him not to go to UA.

Agreed. UA's selling point is that he'll have a chance to get real minutes from day 1.
