Exactly. And about Fiacchi, I really question McCarthy a bit more than I have in the past. Look, I think Will's a good kid from what I hear, but his mechanics are awful...leading to the inaccuracy. A QB coach should be working on that...

 

A couple of those long passes early where the guys were pretty open he just did the play fake and threw. No setup, no looking, just chuck it up. Looked so bad.

1-11 to 8-4 in the CAA with basically the same team is incredible if it happens.

Win the home games and we're in the discussion for an at-large at 8-4.

Not a very long discussion. If we win only our home games, we may easily not have beaten a team that finishes with a winning record, we'd be the fourth loss for Colgate (who still have to play Fordham and three other league games) and for Delaware (who also have Villanova and New Hampshire to go).

 

To really be a contender, I think we have to win in New Hampshire. But first things first.

I'll say it: told ya so. Fiacchi is nothing more than a game manager. Dude can't throw a consistent good ball, although he occasionally gets on a mini roll (like when repeatedly beat Richmond on long passes). Like I said in the other thread where evidently my opinion of him was inaccurate...he's garbage at this level of football. Can't wait for the next QB. I'm sure he's a great guy, but from a football perspective, good riddance. I wonder if we would have beaten Richmond and JMU if we had a complete/consistent QB. I don't care if he takes care of the ball...throwing 50% is almost just as bad a TO...what that means is a lot of three and outs.

For the record, I have always been in the camp of his game management issues. However, your assessment of where he was weakest was off, that's all.

The question I have is where is his successor? At this point anyone can thrown for less than 50%. Especially when you have guys like Parker and Gontarek.

 

This was the year someone should have stepped up. New, simified offense. New coaches. Perfect chance.

At the Richmond game some guy whom I don't know sat by us and kept going ON and ON and ON about how good Shanley was going to be. No idea what he was basing all his hype on but whatever, guy sounded like he knew football. I have no idea who is gonna take over next year.

To add on to what click said, this guy said that Shanley made Fiacchi look like a HS QB. He said the only reason he wasn't already starting was politics and seniority.
