2023-24 Mens Basketball Schedule

Just released the schedule for upcoming season.   Will be a non D1 team added at home.  Nine on the road, four at home, two neutral site.

Nov. 7 – at UMass
Nov. 11 – at Columbia
Nov. 15 – at Seton Hall
Nov. 19 – at Quinnipiac
Nov. 21 – vs. Army*
Nov. 26 – at Siena
Nov. 29 – vs. Boston
Dec. 2 – vs. Dartmouth
Dec. 5 – vs. TBD
Dec. 10 – vs. Temple*
Dec. 16 – at Drexel
Dec. 19 – vs. Sacred Heart
Dec. 22 – at South Florida
Dec. 30 – at LIU
Jan. 1 – at Harvard

Seton Hall is a big time Power basketball team.  The BE is a top 3, if not top 2 conference this year.

So Broadview gets BU, Dartmouth, and Sacred Heart, plus a TBD against a D2 or D3.  Not exciting for packing the place.

Looks like BU is the home opener for Broadview? There is a piece of trivia for us moving forward. Not a huge fan of D2 or D3 games, and yes there is no traditional blue blood on the schedule, but it is not an easy schedule. UMass, Seton Hall, Temple, Drexel, and South Florida are all difficult games against widely known names. Pretty weak only having 3 D1 games at home in the OOC, but I guess with the construction having potential delays and the need for the team to make some money in the OOC it makes sense. Let's hope for an 8-7 OOC (7-7 vs D1). I think at this point that would be a good goal considering the last two seasons and not really knowing what we have as a team.

Looks like BPG will be one of Jan 20 against Bryant, February 3 against UMBC, or March 2 against Maine. Those are the only Saturday home games in conference when the students are in town.

UA schedule on the site has Harvard at 1/2 not 1/1...weird.

Where was Roger Wyland and WNYT-Channel 13 yesterday?

Is Roger still the face of UAlbany Sports?

Yesterday, I watched the 6:00 PM new segment to see how the schedule announcement was handle by Roger, another member of the sports department and WNYT's.  No member of the sports team was part of the broadcast nor was there any mention of the MBB and WBB schedule announcement.  The only segment was about a person's dream of becoming a fencing great. All due respect to this young man's dream.

Why do we keep Roger around?

The Big East was all about UConn MBB ... not Seaton Hall (17-16 overall) a first-round loss in the Big East Tournament and a first-round loss in the NIT.

Do you understand what a Power 5 teams is?  Just because a Power 5 teams sucked (and let's be clear, Seton Hall lost a ton this year to the portal, had suspect replacements in the portal, and Hollaway isn't known for offensive juggernauts (rather defensive prowess)).  They will be mid-bottom BE this year.  That said, as a mid-bottom BE team, they were ranked 58 (average).  That's a POWER 5 team.  

End discussion.

Albany, is playing a Power 5 team.  And to be clear, it's the Power 5 plus BE as always described.
