  2. SUNY Delhi named fourth-year men’s basketball coach Spisto its athletic director Wednesday as the former Broncos guard will replace Gary Cole this summer. "This is a job I’d love to have for the rest of my career," said Spisto, who beat out three other finalists for the position. "Being an alum, I’m a product of the college. I’m excited and proud — it’s a dream come true." Staten Island native Spisto, 31, will succeed Cole, his former SUNY Delhi men’s basketball coach who will retire at the end of this academic year. Spisto will take over an athletics department with 19 programs, including 17 that compete at the NJCAA Division III level. The other two teams — men’s and women’s golf — compete in the NAIA. "Spisto, who said he plans to continue coaching men’s basketball, was a standout guard at SUNY Delhi and Oneonta State in the 1990s. A two-time All-Region III guard at Delhi, Spisto also helped O-State win the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship at the end of the 1996-97 season. Spisto returned to the Broncos as coach in the 1999-2000 season. Delhi won the NJCAA Region III title the following season, en route to a program-best 32-2 record and a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Division III Tournament. Spisto then assisted Rider University, an NCAA Division I program, during the 2001-02 season and followed as an assistant for two seasons at D-I SUNY Albany. Spisto again returned to Delhi for the 2004-05 season, when the Broncos went 20-10. Delhi spent six weeks as the No. 1 NJCAA D-III team in the country this past winter and finished 26-3 as Spisto’s overall record at the school improved to 86-31. Spisto, who also has served as an enrollment services counselor at Delhi, holds a master’s degree in sports management from United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala.; a bachelor’s degree in history from O-State; and an associate’s degree in parks and recreation management from Delhi
  3. I caught part of it. Repeated that we need a football stadium. It needs to be situated north south but there hasn't been a finalized site. Mentioned a couple of steering committees, local and NYC to do some serious fund raising. I'm old, that's all I remember.
  4. The unfortunate fact of life is the incoming class at uconn will be excellent.
  5. I believe there is a measure being considered by the NCAA that would allow a team to play in one invitational tournament a year as opposed to 2 every 4 years (the "two in four" rule.) However, someone probably knows better than I. Any game we play v. Siena should not be part of a tournament, especially their tournament. 14131[/snapback] True but the rule about appearing in the same event once in four years was not changed.
  6. We can only be in the "event" once every 4 years. I don't know what that means re the annual Siena game.
  7. We'll need to get better. Way too many unforced turnovers. Queener had some bad turnovers while pushing up the field.
  8. I don't think it's the Jersey's that matter to the fans, it's the seats.
  9. I heard this quite a while ago. Do they actuall change the records for he 13 teams?
  10. The next few million are going to the peramnent stands at the 2 newest fields. That should be approved for this summers construction.
  11. Saturday - Women's LAX, Men's LAX and Baseball!!
  12. I have attended these in the past. I don't think there were too many fans, but it was a pretty large event. I can't go ths year as I'll be at a seminar in Far Hills NJ. It's nice to see all the seniors and team MVPs get their awards.
  13. I would like to get a good set of dvds of both games.
  14. All the stations were there. 5 year contract.
  15. I think so. we have a return date for uvs for sure.
  16. We already have UCONN, VCU, Utah Valley St. and Utah St. We need a couple of easier games to go along with those. Only VCU is home All road games are tough to win.
  17. I made the trip from St. Maarten. It was worth every $ and minute!!
  18. I wouldn't have thought to greet them. I hope to see them all @ LAX and softball games.
  19. Having good referres certainly helped K-ZO last night. I think the AE refs have kept him in check more than any players.
