This is just conjecture on my part, but Hopkins will have 5 regular season conference games plus possibly 2 conference tournament games, which adds 7 games, while they already play 3 of these team, so a net 4 game addition to their schedule, meaning they need to discontinue playing 4 teams on their current schedule. They have a lot of in-state games (Towson, UMBC, MSM, Navy, Loyola) which they probably want to retain.

I believe it was stated on the ESPNU telecast of our game with Hopkins that it was the final game in the series.

At least attendance shouldn't be an excuse for teams not traveling here, like it is other sports. This year's top eleven:

No. School ....... Average Dates Last year's rank

1. Syracuse ........ 4,140 8 2nd (3,859)

2. Ohio State ...... 3,154 8 17th (1,439)

3. Army ............... 2,919 6 5th (2,929)

4. Virginia .......... 2,904 8 8th (2,514)

5. Johns Hopkins. 2,763 8 11th (2,296)

6. Maryland......... 2,545 8 3rd (3,643)

7. Navy ............... 2,468 7 1st (3,860)

8. North Carolina. 2,310 7 7th (2,619)

9. Loyola ............ 2,282 10 9th (2,471)

10. Denver ......... 2,173 8 13th (1,976)

11. Cornell ......... 2,072 7 4th (3,114)

Our attendance was 1,271. Getting the top teams here is probably more about travel expenses and their perceived prestige.

Guess that would make sense.
