Looks like we just nabbed a pretty good LB out of MD from Good Counsel. Its confirmed via Good Counsel's twitter feed and updated in rivals. Although ESPN has not yet confirmed the signing as they give little to no attention to FCS, they do rank him pretty well as the #17 player in the state and #71 ranked LB.

Steve Shanley has a very very good arm and is very accurate. Watched a couple of games of his on T.V. this year. His RB is probably the best prospect NJ has seen in a decade, Jabril Peppers.

If we got Shanley, it would be a MAJOR coup. He has offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Buffalo. He has visited Penn State.

Also, seems like we got a verbal from ANTHONY PAOLELLO. He is a Metro State All-Star (NJ, NY, CT).

More on Paolello, who could be a DT or DE for us. Chose us over UCONN, UMASS, Colgate and Lafayette, all who had offered. Apparently loves Gattuso and the staff (must mean we have some good holdovers). His team has 7 guys with D-I offers and 2 underclassmen who are HIGH D-I candidates. He is an All-Metro Honorable Mention (NY, NJ, CT).

"Paolello spoke highly of his official visit to Albany, which he took this past weekend."

“I really trust them. I went up yesterday for an official visit and really bonded with them. They have the experience and knowledge to take Albany to the next level…I fully believe we will win the CAA and compete for national championships in the next four years the staff has been there before and they have a lot of young talent coming in.” he said.

Paolello is the first commitment for Gattuso, who recently took over the program after spending three seasons as an assistant at Maryland.

“I loved that the coaching staff has a plan for us these next four years and I saw how the football team really has a special bond and that’s something you can’t really search for…they really made me feel like I was home.” he said.

Paolello had interest from several other programs including UMass, Lafayette, Colgate and UConn. He is the fourth football player from St. Joseph Regional’s class of 2014 to commit to a Division 1 program.

I think some schools really missed out on Paolello by not offering him. He played both ways for St. Joseph, a team that dominated most of its games this year. Paolello is 6’2 and definitely fits the frame of an FCS defensive end. Paolello proved that he could stop the run and rush the quarterback during his two seasons as a starter at defensive end for the Green Knights. He has a quick first step and showed that he could get down the field quickly as a tight end."
