That guy was just one off from the all-time DI single game goal record. 11 goals has been done three times..last was in 1993. Disappointing the game was anywhere near that close..but crazy the Danes still won despite that performance.

Not entirely surprising. UMBC probably had this one circled as their super bowl. UA got up big, relaxed (as usual), then UMBC came out hot and that guy Loomis was unconscious. Some lousy defense left Blaze exposed and he had an off day. So they win a pressure cooker which in a way is better prep for what lies ahead. Marr cannot be pleased with the second half effort.

Didn't help when Blaze went on one of his romps across midfield and got his stick checked and lost the ball for another quick UMBC goal. I think it was 14-9 at the time.

 

In general too many turnovers in the second half.

Way too sloppy after leading 10-2. Very surprised that Marr did not get across the importance of this game. Not for America East seeding since that was wrapped up but what the game means in the polls and the NCAA tourney. A loss would have meant us dropping from #5 to #10 or worse. Then even with an AE title, it would mean a road game in the first round. And a worse case senario would be an AE tourney loss which could mean no NCAA's at all as an at-large. Maybe this game wakes them up.

We're still fifth in RPI, but have fallen to ninth in the Laxpower's Tournament Selection Index and tenth in their Computer Rating (behind #9 Stony Brook)

Any ranking that has us behind Stony Brook would seem to be flawed, no?

To some extent those rankings are largely irrelevant at this point..at least in relation to Stony Brook. An auto-bid through the conference tournament would (likely) give us another win over Stony Brook..pushing our ratings even higher and I think locking-up a home game in the first round. While I think we've all but guaranteed ourselves an auto-bid with our regular season play..a loss in the conference tournament would still leave us a bit low in some of these ratings and on the bubble for a home game..maybe even outside looking in.

Good for him! Not to put a damper on the achievement, but the commentator for the game mentioned that UMBC was next to last in the country on face offs.
