[FB] Game #8: 10/27/18 - 1pm - @ Maine

Further, Mark Benson has verbally backed Greg on Saturday's pre-game show. Mark Benson stated we need to be patient, one  or two years.  I have learned in college sports, we are aiming at a moving TARGETS.  Student-athletes come-go or graduate. Further, others fail to live up to expectations.  UAlbany Football has not had a good record of late.  No many will take a chance with GG.

Nail, meet coffin. They will both be gone in 2022 is my guess. Screw em. Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya. Can't believe Benson is stupid enough to tie the Gattuso noose around his own neck and go down with the ship instead of saving what he can by cutting this scrub loose now or ASAP, money be damned.

If we think paying Gattuso $1M is the more cost effective option than cutting him and eating the cost, they are mistaken. By 2022, that inept tool is going to cost this school a LOT more than $1M.

Maine looked like Alabama in their opener against UNH but haven't been that dominant since. They have won the close, tough conference games that we've been losing. It helps that they haven't played the top of the conference either.

Contracts, buyouts, future whatevers aside...I'm curious to see if this team can be put back together and compete on Saturday. The second half looked like a team mailing it in.

In the end let us wish our team our best and hope for a win.  This is the best we can do.

He's not going anywhere, so we can get personal and keep wishing that he fails another 3 or 4 years or maybe he'll figure it out and get back to winning which would preferable. He's not going anywhere so he's gonna have a chance to turn it around simply because I don't believe they have the funds to buy him out. I'm pretty despondent about it because in 5 years I have seen nothing to show he knows at all what he's doing...zero!

I have no idea how he compiled the winning % he did at Duquesne, granted 20 years ago because it's the inverse at Albany, just keeps losing and losing and losing. I know I'm possibly alone but for me this starts on the recruiting trail. I think the recruiting is some of the worst I've ever seen. Talent stinks top to bottom with a few bright spots.

With 4 games left, I'd throw EVERY SINGLE HEALTHY kid in there and rotate them all in. Throw them all at the wall and see if anything sticks. With 4 to go they won't burn their redshirt.

Our red shirt ?players are there for a reason.  Our lack of depth is our issue not the number of players.

Agree somewhat. But some kids have not been dressed all year fpr games, can't throw them in there!  QB is the main position where they should do this.

Not the same.  Different level of athlete, I think there may have had a learning curve with some of the coaches doing the recruiting [not an excuse, just pointing out the obvious].  Not sure.  I do know, at least this year they offered MOST of the kids signed by other schools in the CAA and MANY kids who ended up committing to FBS schools.  They are also looking at more JUCO kids but I think even some of them are not the right caliber of athlete for the CAA.

How would you guys rate the offensive line this year?

I would grade them at 50%. EBH (Only a Jr. be back next season if he doesn't transfer) and Mofor have had some good games running the ball but VT has been sacked more than he should. The OL will be better next year. I am sure there will be players on the OL in the mix next year that are not in the mix this year. JUCO and 1A transfer city. I agree we should play everyone over the next 4 weeks. Get the OK State transfer QB some reps for certain.

Our Secondary is why we are in the shape we are. With a serviceable secondary we probably get to 6 wins with this schedule. Our O is scoring enough to win. We would struggle stopping a top tier HS team from throwing on us.

I understand that injuries to safety position is a big issue but the corners are some of the worst I've ever seen. They are small, can't match up at all in the man to man, don't track the ball or even try to knock it down, mistime jumps for the ball, get beat deep with speed repeatedly. They are incredibly succeptible due to play call and inability to play man-man to the quick hooks, slant throws as they routinely line up 9 or 10 years off the line. DL is extremely bad as well, can't generate any push at all and are manhandles by everyone on this weak schedule. LB's which were a concern of mine a few weeks ago in my view have started to play better but still average. The entire defensive side of the ball is an unmitigated disaster in totality. I think the majority of the roster on that side of the ball probably doesn't measure up favorably as anything even close to a CAA team and would struggle in most lower 1-AA leagues. It's really bad...the entire lot needs to be recruited over and then we are again stuck with a young team or if we go heavy JUCO a team that will need time to jell. This will take a few recruiting cycles (at least 2) to fix.

I predict you'll see significant defection of kids before next season as I've been told that GG has lost the team.
