  1. I respectfully disagree. Many mid major coaches have stated- you patch holes , you don't create holes. In other words you don't recruit 5 centers because you are afraid they will leave. No one has ever won a game without scoring. Need guys who can put the ball in the hoop consistently from the perimeter. That's how teams are winning in today's game. Last year's team we recruited "athletes" if you recall. I don't think that team was successful. But that's me. Do we have them now, I don't know.
  2. Seems like an excellent signing. Looks like the kid can do a little bit of everything. They still need "shooters". Guys who can put the ball in the hoop consistently. The 3 pointer is the great equalizer and has been a huge part of the game. Last year we lacked that, appears this year we will as well. Neely and Beagle will be bangers down low but we really need to recruit outside guys who can finish consistently.
  3. It's site lines. The purple seats are bigger. That's the big draw. The white seats are brought in and out. The purple seats are stationary. I sat 2nd row and loved it, but I'm told the purple seats are a better view. We will see.
  4. When it comes to UA basketball I will always be a water half full kind of guy to start the season However, I to believe the over/under should be 10 D1 wins total.
  5. Did anyone get a confirmation email about the tour? I signed up for it and got no confirmation. Just want to make sure before I show up and can't get in. Also where does the tour start? So I know I'm in the right place. I'm guessing right inside the building but you never know.
  6. I don't doubt your timeline . However if season ticket holders can start to pick their seat only 2 weeks before the home opener would be such a UAlbany thing to do. They have the seat count and such. There is no reason in hell to wait until 2 weeks before the game. Season ticket holders will need at least a week to purchase tickets and make sure it works for them. This means they are going to sell the opening of the arena with same day tickets with no advance tickets for non season ticket holders. Lol lol. Again such a UA thing to do . I pray this is false and they are not this stupid. But won't hold my breath.
  7. Per twitter : 2024 PG Amir Lindsay (@duwapmir) has committed to UAlbany.
  8. I know people are going to disagree with this , however, I really don't think this is a good team. I guess if Neely comes back full strength and takes a huge step, and Beagle takes a huge step, we might be ok. For this reason I really don't like this schedule so far. I believe next years schedule should have been an easier schedule to get the teams confidence going. Getting beaten 30 by good teams does nothing. Make this schedule when you have a good team, not a team coming off a last place finish .
  9. Delaware transfer Gianmarco Arletti has committed to Albany. Yawn.
  10. This is not middle school , everyone gets a trophy. This is college basketball. WIN!!!!!!!!! I like Jackson. He is on Twitter a lot supporting Albany Basketball. (If he improves a ton then fine.) However, at this point he is not a scholarship player. You get 13 of these. Coach Killings is making 400K plus a year to win. Giving this player a scholarship on a bottom 30 team in D1 last year is crazy. Give the 13 best players scholarships but if Jackson is one of them then Killings will not have a job very long.
  11. Cornelius Robinson decommits from Albany. I know he was going to be a good player but I'm glad. Punching a kid in the face has no place in basketball. Good luck to him.
  12. Sebastian Thomas, a 6-1 sophomore guard from the University of Rhode Island just committed. There is your point guard. The positive note is that he started the last 7 games and averaged 9 points. The negative, he cant shoot, at all. We will see.
  13. Kind of a transfer but Assistant coach Bobby Jordan going to Temple. Killings continues to lose assistant coaches. Very odd.
  14. From Twitter a couple of hours ago PG Joel Brown @jabrown_1 , who started 93 games for Cal, has heard from Iona, George Mason, Bakersfield, Albany, & South Dakota. One year remaining Averaged 7 points and 3 assists for a bad Cal team (but still the Pac 12). Also 93 starts is a ton of experience for the AE. This would be a nice pick up. Could be a point guard that I guy like Little can learn behind.
  15. Hofstra transfer Amar'e Marshall hears from: UIC Rider James Madison Albany Maryland Eastern Shore Fairfield Siena Sacred Heart Northern Illinois Manhattan Decent list of school. We will see.
  16. I sound like a broken record but if I'm Killings, going to into my 3rd year, I'm keeping jackson as a pwo ( if he plays a lot this year and improves I give him a ride. He played a lot on a bad bad team last year ). Ketner would be out of a scholarship and I would not have Hutch back. Give me 3 more scholarships to use. A point, a big, and the best player in the portal I can get.
  17. Great. News. Big win for us. Should really really help recruiting now.
  18. No. Get better in an general sense. The team was so flawed year in every way imaginable. The are several ways to get better: Recruit better players , coach better, put a team together that is coherent, ect. Coach Killings had been a coach for a long time not to understand this and I think be does. One way or another the team needs to get much better.
  19. I don't want to crap on every signing but this guy is a career 36 percent shooter . 35 percent from 3. This is everything this team doesn't need (a guy that struggles to but the ball in the basket). Hope I'm wrong. Need to get much better !
  20. Obviously if money was not an option then look at any of the big ncaa facilities (Kanasa , Villanova, ect) and copy them. However, with this new stadium, which is great for low D1, there is no longer a real excuse not to succeed. Does not matter if your low D1 or highest D1 (UConn sucked a few years ago), with the transfer portal the way it is you can turn around a team very very quickly. A new arena will only help.
  21. Facilities for basketball that we can afford ......no.... Things we can add to make us more attractive to potential recruits ?? NIL MONEY !!!!!
  22. Kellogg going D2. Good fit for him. Opens up a scholarship that we really need.
  23. Kellogg had a terrible year last year . If you can't see the court on a bottom 30 team , then I'm glad he is leaving. I'm hoping that Killings and starting to feel the heat. I hope we have as many scholarships as possible to hopefully turn this train wreck around. Killings needs to hit a home run in the portal this year and he needs as many pitches (scholarships) as possible to do it.
  24. They might be "basically family" but it's not family. Killings is making over 400K to be a D1 basketball coach. If he fails miserably he may never ever get another shot. If that means letting him go and open up a scholarship to be more successful and ensure his "own families" prosperity, I bet he does .
  25. Yes but does it say that he "gave up" basketball . Hopefully he does not try to play 2 sports . That's all I was saying. Hopefully he completely switches sports to football.
