Where there is smoke there needs to be at least some fire. However, leaving a D1 head coaching job to become an assistant (assuming you don't get fired), is basically saying you could not handle it.

I said it before but it's still relevant to this topic. You need to keep Beagle, Neely, and Drumgoole. If Drumgoogle decides to graduate then you lose 16 points per game. Lose any of those you are a sub 500 team next year at best (unless you get very very lucky in the portal). If you keep all three, and do well in the portal, it could be a good year. But it's starts and stops with those 3.

As a very very casual lacrosse fan, even I can see glaring issues with this team. They can't say in front of anyone on defense, offense has a tough time putting the ball in the net. Hope to be competitive in AE play is all you can ask for now.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I tried. I don't watch women's basketball, but I decided today to support the women's basketball team. That was the worse game I have ever seen. I have seen thousands if not tens of thousands of games. If the men's team is unwatchable, there is not a word in the English language to describe this game. Have to call a spade a spade no matter how much it hurts. 7th and 8th grade boys would CRUSH these teams. I can't believe how many layups are missed. Wow, just wow.

As i said before Killings is too nice. Needs to let 2 assistant coaches go and hire 2 more experienced coaches. Coaching this year was terrible. We never improved. Not even a little. He also needs to let 3 of these 4 go: Edmead, Ketner, Kellogg, or Amica. I know he wants to be a stand up guy but he needs the think of himself first. If he fails miserably here he will probably never get another head coaching job (making 400k a year). Lastly I know you guys are high on our recruits but they will still be freshman. Also im told Aznan is a border line D1 player . We were his only offer. Not saying he can't develop into something but it won't be next year. Need to keep Drumgoole, Neely, and Beagle. Let 3 of the above walk, and get better and older. If we don't we won't be much better next year. Killings needs to realize this and start to get selfish .

From Twitter: UAlbany athletic director Mark Benson and Killings are at the women's basketball semifinal together, say there's no truth to this. I imagine this closes the book on Killings getting fired ..... Of course only Benson would say no truth then the next day fire Killings. But I would think even he is not that stupid. He would have said no comment. Killings here to stay. Need to get better.

I do not quiet understand what is being said here, but if Killings is fired they need to find a coach who has been WINNING. Either a head coach or a top assistant. Killings appeared to be a good hire at the time but he was a loser. None of his assistant jobs ever really won. Need to find a coach who consistently goes to the ncaa tournament or a good head coach. I know you disagree be we will probably lose both Neely and Beagle . It is what it is .

If fired they have to be going after "fired with cause". I doubt they could afford to pay 2 head coach salaries for 3 years.

Killings tweeted about Albany 2 hours ago. Maybe true , maybe not. I don't want to say what I want until he gets fired but I thought it was a good hire when it happened.

I agree with the D2 but this kid plays the game the right way. Averaged 20 as a freshman. Was hurt this year . Still averaged 17. Plays hard and has good skills. Would rather see an atheltic drop down from a major conference,however depending on how many scholarships we have , we could definitely do worse.

Not sure we are even interested but I saw that Shane O'Dell from st rose has entered the portal . Averaged 17 this year and might be a good addition to the team.

Did he say this during an interview or something or is this just inferred? Because he is now in year 3 and if he wants to keep his job he is going to need to get mean in a sense. He is just too nice at times. If you can't contribute on a bad team then you should be let go.

Yes. I have said that before. I believe drumgoole is considered a sophomore due to a redshirt and covid year.

Yes thugs is a perfect word for at least a couple of our players. Taunting technical fouls, immaturity, flagrant fouls, selfish behavior, ejections,lack of accountability, lack of giving a "poop". Add another one . Perfect for this team .

They used the timeout after the first made free throw. There was no need for another time out . A good coach would have had a play called during that time out. Of course Killings is a terrible coach and therefore no play was called.

I have not posted a lot because I don't want to get banned. But wow. I can't believe this man is a head coach. 3 minutes left: hold the ball and throw up a wild 3 pointer at the end of the shot clock . Next possession, 2 minutes left : shot clock violation Last 2 possessions in regulation: a turnover and a shot that does not hit the rim. That's absolutely pathetic. That's all coaching. Coach Killings is absolutely trash and the only reason he was not fired is because the color of his skin. Bottom line.

I'm sorry it needs to be said. They really suck. Everyone has to leave except Beagle and Neely. Everyone! They are laughable on offense. They are even more laughable of defense (if that's even possible). Worse team in almost 20 years. Disgusting.

I wrote the president a couple of months ago . My email: President Rodriguez, As a UAlbany alumni I am absolutely disgusted with the way UA has handled the Coach Killings incident. I am appalled that anyone would support the intentional physical striking of a student athlete. The fact that Coach Killings was able to keep his job shows that the University supports physical contact with students. AD Benson also needs to be fired for allowing this to happen. For the first time in my life I am ashamed to be an Albany alumni. I urge you to do the right thing and immediately terminate the contracts of both Coach Killings and Athletic Director Benson. Here is my issue. I'm starting to think Killings does not have a game plan. Most of the time I don't know specifics about a team and talk in general. However , this game we all know Doles. He is soft. Not bad but soft. He is not going to back you down, or beat you off the dribble . He is going to shoot the midrange jumper or 3 pointer. He was on the team all last year doing this . And yet he continued to do it last night and be effective. The fact the players did not know this shows their lack of understanding or the coaches lack of understanding. Either way it's extremely alarming.

Listen. They played hard . When your one of the 30 worse teams in the country, that's the only positive I can think of.....

Was not sure where to put this, however I recently ran into an "employee of UA athelics". They stated Killings does not want to build a team through the portal. Very interesting to me. He believes in developing freshman or multiple year transfers. Believes that Neeley, Jackson, Beagle, Edmead, and to some extent Reddish are developing nicely. He believes he got a "steal" with all 3 incoming recruits. He thinks he is still 2 years away, Beagles Jr year, but believes he can build something special . Not sure I agree but I was nice to hear that he had a plan. This was the plan he was hired from. If things play out we could do far worse than having Drumgoole, Neeley, and Beagle as a foundation next year.
