  1. I went outside to do some work with both the men's and women's teams up by only four at the half. Then I return inside and see both teams up by thirty or more. What did the coaches tell their teams during the big break?
  2. I wouldn't want to be a team member at the next practice.
  3. I'm glad to see that UA came from behind to win this road game. Anyone have a theory about why this team has started out so slowly in so many games this season?
  4. I understand your point of view. Most of the time, I feel the Times Union favors Siena over Albany. Perhaps it's because the newspaper name is tied in with the name of the arena; perhaps it's because Siena usually draws better than UA; perhaps it's just a tradition. On the other hand, I have seen the TU lavish praise on UA. The first time the men's team went to the NCAA's we received so much coverage from the paper that it was almost embarrassing. Almost.
  5. The top of the sports page is Jennifer Gish's column "Green pasture's right here".Not really a pregame story, but the start time is a sidebar, and comparisons to Marist are in the story. The Marist game is a two-year deal. Their women's team, rather than the boring Lady Red Foxes, should be known as the Vixens. Good article about the coach. Thanks for citing it for me.
  6. I had to be out tonight during the game, so I have no idea how the game went. What was the final score? Was it a tight game throughout? How was the attendance? Were there many Marist fans in the crowd? Thanks in advance.
  7. There's no online article in today's Times Union about the Marist game tonight. What a letdown! How often does such a highly-ranked college team visit the Capital District, or is it because the game isn't being played at the TU Center?
  8. The game's not until tomorrow night. UAalum, Thanks a lot again.
  9. I could not find any article in the Times Union the last couple days on the women's game versus Marist tonight. I have access only to the online version. Did I miss something?
  10. Thanks for the tip on the broadcast. On our sloppiness, it seems like there is almost always a huge letdown after the Siena game. Let's hope the team picks it up in the second half.
  11. The Marist women have been outstanding now for several years. Their coach, Brian Giorgis, hasn't stopped winning since he coached at Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie and brought them many state championships. It's a real coup to get them to play here on our court.
  12. Great opinion by Amodeo. It's refreshing to see a different point of view from the media. Something needs to be done to change the current format. It's obvious that SEFCU can't hold the venue for the amount of fan interest in the game. I would prefer the setup where the two teams alternate home court status every year. Anyone - whether it's a Siena fan or a Times Union writer - who advocates for continuing the current arrangement is plainly disrespectful, illogical, and selfishly childish. I cannot think of any excuse to continue this sham. Contracts can be renegotiated and rewritten. I thought the issue of always being forced to sit in the back of public venues was decided once and for all about 50 years ago. Perhaps UA fans need to organize and protest the current setup publicly. Maybe some fans could make up some placards and parade in front of the Times Union Center next year the night of the game.
  13. They may actually have more fans there, but ours are more alive.
  14. Score of game? Can't find it anywhere. Thanks.
  15. This season kind of reminds me of the year in men's basketball when we finished a game with only four men left on the floor, that's so deficient we are this season in football. Then within a couple seasons we beat everyone in our league to represent the AE at the NCAA. We just need some more patience and a couple good decisions from our athletic department.
  16. It's time to drop Siena from the field hockey schedule. It may be doing us more harm to play them than to drop them. You can argue that the game gives UA a respite on the schedule, and I can't argue too much about that factor, but time after time has shown that superior teams very often play down to the level of the team you're playing. Does this successful team need to have a cupcake like Siena on the schedule any longer? In the past, Siena fans made the point that playing UA in men's basketball was useless since the outcome would be almost predictable, but we were an up and coming team. The current situation with field hockey is definitely not the case.
  17. Let's hope that the interest in UA football by new fans will translate into greater participation at other UA athletic events. Now that the newbies have been on campus, parked their cars, and made their way to the venue, it should not be so difficult to find SEFCU or other places.
  18. I think the Times Union messed up on good coverage of the URI game. The staff usually sends out a crew to Capital District events for the "Were You Seen" spot. I can't imagine a more important social event going on within a 100-mile radius from the Times Union HQ.
  19. It was great to see the huge turnout yesterday. Before the game actually began, I had my doubts as to whether UA would see most seats occupied, but the final turnout was a pleasant surprise. Great turnout in the student section. Yes, the play calling was not good.
  20. I'm disappointed that the Times Union didn't print how many tickets have already been bought for tonight's game. Disappointed, but not surprised.
  21. Yes, I got to the field today and was simply overwhelmed. It was great to see the word "Albany" from the eastern side of the campus close to Liberty Terrace.
  22. Hooray for the win! CBSportsline still has UA listed as a Northeast League team.
  23. Drew Smith competes for a job with the Bills. Nice article in the TU this morning. http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Former-UAlbany-star-chases-NFL-dream-4723466.php#photo-5028329
