  1. It was announced yesterday that Logan Aronhalt will be a grad assistant on the Maryland staff for the coming year: http://www.umterps.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=716390&SPID=120728&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=29700&ATCLID=207324753&Q_SEASON=2014
  2. This is just conjecture on my part, but Hopkins will have 5 regular season conference games plus possibly 2 conference tournament games, which adds 7 games, while they already play 3 of these team, so a net 4 game addition to their schedule, meaning they need to discontinue playing 4 teams on their current schedule. They have a lot of in-state games (Towson, UMBC, MSM, Navy, Loyola) which they probably want to retain. I believe it was stated on the ESPNU telecast of our game with Hopkins that it was the final game in the series.
  3. I heard the Hopkins series has ended with Hopkins going into the Big Ten for lax.

  5. I feel especially privileged to have become the champion of the BPF bracket challenge on the same day as our good friends in loudonville won the national championship.
  6. Sorry if this has already been posted, but, I was unaware of it. The NCAA tournament is now 18 teams with two "play-ins". http://www.insidelacrosse.com/news/2014/04/03/bracketology-mens-division-i-first-look-april-3?page=5
  7. This letter appeared in yesterday's TU, written by Dr. John Metallo, a highly respected local educator: http://blog.timesunion.com/opinion/ualbany-women-deserve-coverage/27167/
  8. Very sad to hear this: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion-albany/obituary.aspx?n=john-paul-seward-jay&pid=164346981&fhid=5016#fbLoggedOut
  9. I was greatly saddened yesterday to learn of the passing of Kevin McClune. As the obituary indicates, Kevin was a long time season ticket holder and a regular at mens and womens basketball and at football games. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion-albany/obituary.aspx?n=kevin-mcclune&pid=163540304#fbLoggedOut
  10. Last I knew, the East Campus property was owned by the University at Albany Foundation and the CNSE property was owned by a consortium of University related entities under the name Fuller Road Management. I'd imagine some changes were made within the past years, resulting from the "trade" of land needed to relocate the Washington Avenue Extension.
  11. For mainejeff http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Shaker-star-headed-to-Maine-4230468.php
  12. Wrong. Today, the Times Useful reported something that seems obvious, but that I wasn't aware of. Wayne LaPierre, Siena '72
  13. I think it stays downtown because we only won the two basketball games but, embarassingly, lost the toilet paper unrolling contest.
  14. Interesting story in this morning's Times Union regarding former Great Dane player, Darrin Jahnel: http://www.timesunion.com/business/article/Stepping-stones-3622001.php
  15. as always ahead of the TU. schedule released today. July 26(players report)- Aug 15(break camp) http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205436868&DB_OEM_ID=15800 That's not really fair - the TU story was up at 3:37 PM today
  16. Joe Resitarits named USILA honorable mention all america: http://insidelacrosse.com/news/2012/05/24/usila-announces-2012-division-i-all-americans
  17. Since it is getting late and you apparently put the hex on here, I'll try. Down 7-3 bottom of the 7th. We are the visitors. not looking good. Looks like I'll have to find alternate baseball for tomorrow. Could go to Fordham for a-10 tournament or Syracuse to boo John Lannan, the worst pitcher in pro ball. I vote for Syracuse
