They've had something to prove for a long, long time.

That they could actually pull off a victory against the cross town giants.

This game was beyond urgently important to them.

It hasn't been much of an emotional charge for UAlbany. 50% effort isn't enough anymore to knock siena silly like we're used to. They aren't a total pushover anymore. Time to come to play from now on.

They play in the worst division with the worst teams in D1... easy access to the playoffs.

Of course, they are going to attract a few athletes for that very reason.

Don't fret. It's the beginning of the year. The program is on its way back to the top 10 sooner rather than later.

McElroy should learn from this. Schedule LCCC in late March or later.

There was no lack of effort from UAlbany. if you were at the game you would have seen that.

I was also at the game; and I am not sure if it was a lack of effort or not. But I can definitely report that face-offs continue to be a major problem (you do not need to be an expert to see this problem, the #s speak for themselves.) Secondly, Siena at least yesterday exhibited much more team spead than Albany. Bob Ford when we played Montana a few years back commented that speed is the one area that we cannot match up with when we play up. This appears also true when we play BB at Syracuse etc. They say speed is the one thing you can not coach. Anyhow, at least yesterday, Siena seemed to run us off the field (my opinion).

With this,

"It hasn't been much of an emotional charge for UAlbany. 50% effort isn't enough anymore to knock siena silly like we're used to."

I was generalizing on how UAlbany has trounced siena in the past. And it wasn't necessary for UA to bring their A, B, or even C game. We could easily win with our D game.

I wasn't saying they didn't give effort yesterday. I was generalizing by saying if we mentally prepare for all teams like we do when we play Syracuse or Hopkins, then we're better off.

Has this helped soothe your issue?

I almost sense hostility.

This is disturbing. LAX was our strongest sport.

Basketball was a complete disaster. LAX is not starting off well. I'm all for giving people an opportunity but if things don't improve, we need a shake up at the top next year.

With all due respect to what the LAX team has done, they may have been our strongest spectator sport, but Mens T&F is our strongest sport and as long as Coach Vives is here it will continue to be that way.

The last four or five years they've (Siena) seemed to improve in the sports we were waxing them in early in our DI tenure. Those first few years it was hard to believe they funded those sports at all. To me it seemed like after they cut their football program they started to put some of that money into scholarships for sports like lax and volleyball.

This game was called a rivarly before but really wasn't. It is now.
