PE building renovation

Recommended Posts

Ummm, what?  What construction of an enlarge dome for athletic practice, meaning where is that going.  That's supposed to be a separate standalone facility.  This would be a big deal if it were going in the pool area.  The locker room complex will be at Casey when built, not in the PE building. I'd be surprised, not shocked if they dumped a huge amount of money in the locker room.  That said, the most important need to that locker room is air conditioning.

The big takeaway for me-- what is the gym going to look like.  if they do a bang up job with new bleachers, that would be telling as the basketball team would likely play there during any rehab of SEFCU or, if a new building is being built and the site is demolished, playing in the gym as well.

Here's the link I put in the basketball thread Featured Projects 5/26/21

A picture on page 160 and sketch on p. 165 shows the Air Structure east of Ford Field (on Practice Field #1), the "Football Building" past the south end zone. These will preclude any major expansion of football seating.

p. 125 says the PE Building will have" Phased Renovation – next 6-10 years", I assume for the rest of the building.

bummed the school is loosing the pool.

++.  How short sited is that. I spent many a night swimming and relaxing in the pool in my days @ UA. While I would not say it was packed with people; there was always a nice crowd; even got/had a couple dates by being at the pool. Maybe kids now a days don't swim anymore?? Seemed having a pool was a good selling point for prospective students. Not a deal breaker for sure; but in this day and age with enrollment issues ALL over the country, seemed to me a nice perk.

It’s where I learned to swim...one of the more useful things I learned at UA. I sort of remember the teacher was Coach Kelly? Swimming coach? Kind of heavy cotton swimming trunks that I think we had to get from maybe Spud? Ahhh...the old days.
