Recruiting - 2016

Recommended Posts

I'm concerned there doesn't seem to be any 4 year players joining the squad, but some of the JUCO players look nice.

Cochran had offers from Buffalo, Rice, Oakland, Kent State, and Dayton among others...

3 of the 4 commits will have 3 years of eligibility left.

Hopefully WB can get a freshman to sign as well. My bet is that the team starts slow in the OOC but pulls it together and once again competes for a league title.

Some of these kids looks ok but not one 4 year player is a bad optic...disappointing.

Albany has always been a core of players like Jamar, Black, Aronhalt, Lillis, Wilson, Hooley, Sam and similar types with JUCO's to fill gaps. This smacks of Iona type tactic. I'd love to know the reason for such a stark departure from what has normally been observed.

3 year kids helps to explain some of it but...

I think waiting this long hurts your chances of getting high school kids because so many already committed. How many players committed so far? 3? How many more spots open?

2 years left on contract - need to win now?

That's what I gather...I get that...should never have come to this.

3 of the last 4 seasons result in NCAA appearances. UA consistently has more players on the all academic team than any other school. Tied for most winning season in D1 this year at 24. Team and coaches donate time to the community etc.

Not sure what more Benson is looking for in a coach.

And as you all point of it clearly looks like it's affecting recruiting.
