Did I hear DK say during the halftime chat with Wyland that the BPG is 12/11 vs Columbia? Isn't BPG almost ALWAYS against Vermont or another top AE team in conference play?

What the BLANK!!!  I have never known the BPG not being in early February.... may be just a statement error or confusion over what Roger was asking .... against Columbia .... during finals...no

The renovation of the PE building will prevent the feast associated with BPG, so it was moved up.

Interesting that something is happening with the renovation program. I recall {probably incorrectly} that it was suppose to be completed by NOW???????

Anyone remember or know what else is ON the renovation program and TIME LINE?????

These are contemplated but not budgeted?

What is the point of making it 80%. If you cannot make it regulation for football, lacrosse & soccer why build it at all. Serves almost no purpose. I know can practice in it --"sort-off." IMHO if you cannot make it regulation size WHY bother spending the money???????????? Better off spending it elsewhere IMHO.

It’s way bigger than Stony Brook facility, sq footage wise.   Plenty for practice and it will house a fully compliant ncaa track and field setup for indoor meets.   Frees up space in sefcu.  You don’t need a full indoor field, being 36 yards short isn’t going to hurt (including two end zones).  Plenty of D 1 schools don’t have full sized fields

I am more concerned about Lacrosse than football. More & more schools in the Northeast & Midwest have or are building indoor lax fields because of the cold & unpredictable weather. Pretty hard to compete against the southern teams when practice begins early January and the season early February. Even late Feb. and March in the Northeast can/is brutal. If UA ever hopes to recruit the talent needed, and get the required work & practice needed, to get back to the final four:  THEY ABSOLUTELY NEED A FULL SIZE INDOOR facility

RODGER’S QUICK TAKE

When the UAlbany men’s basketball team opens its season on Nov. 9 at SEFCU Arena against Towson, watch out for De’Vondre Perry. Perry is a 6-foot-6 graduate transfer from Temple who has a chance to be the Great Danes’ top player. I don’t usually single out one player, but Perry looked awfully good in the intra-squad scrimmage last Saturday. You could tell he has experience playing at a much higher level. UAlbany coach Dwayne Killings is known as a very good recruiter, and Perry might turn out to be his best this season. Rodger Wyland is the sports director for NewsChannel 13. Listen to him weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on WTMM (104.5 FM, “The Team”).
