Recruiting - 2016

If theyre truly interested in me (playing time wise) is the most important, Johnson said. Also, which has the best route for me to continue playing basketball after college.

I think someone disagreed with me rooting for SBU in the tournament because I felt that giving Warney more press would help his draft stock and thus help him play at the next level and thus help recruiting for all schools in the conference.

It looks like I was right in my assessment. An America East player making the NBA for the first time since 06 really could sway this type of player into thinking he can move on after starring in the AE instead of riding the pine in the ACC...

Whether Warney makes it or not has absolutely nothing to do with whether Albany lands any of the kids they are recruiting. Smh.

You have NO IDEA what you are talking about. Honest to god.

There's nothing to talk about. If a player has NBA talent he's going to make it to the NBA no matter where he plays. There's mid major NBA players all over the place. I think you are misunderstanding the point.
Last comment on this as it is directly related to recruiting. I'm sorry I brought it up in the first place.

Long story short:yes there is NBA talent everywhere, and if a kid is good enough to make it, he will make it anywhere. That said 99.99999% of kids aren't good enough. But that doesn't mean they don't have dreams of it and want to make every effort to get better and make it.

If you are talented, learning and growing as player, want to make a run at playing professionally but aren't quite a top 100 recruit yet - and you have multiple college offers: which school do you choose:

A: be a role player or sit the bench for a team that is in a big time conference knowing you can pay your dues and play against the best, but possibly be recruited over for a 1 and done phenom each year

B. A school in a mid-major conference that is good and maybe you get to the tournament during your career. The conference hasn't had a player go to the NBA in over a decade. You can get playing time right away.

C. A mid major team that has been dominant in their league, you can play right away and make an impact, have a good shot at playing in the tournament multiple years, and their league has produced players who got enough press to get drafted.

Most kids I have met and I have seen in following college basketball will choose choice A as the big schools are more prestigious to brag to their friends about. Some will choose C because the coach recruiting them did a good job of selling them on the opportunity of being a big fish in a small pond. Choice B would only be chosen by those that don't have the option of A or C or have some connection to the choice B school.

From the looks of that article: Johnson is hoping to vet an offer from choice A, but is happy to look at option C. He doesn't want choice B.

There's no need to apologize, we were having a discussion on a message board.

I agree with you on all of this, but disagree on is Warney's impact on the Albany program in the future, which I still think is zero. Not sure if you played D1 so be careful with your posts in the future lol.

Insinuating that someone knows nothing about a topic because they weren't directly related to it....... is Siena.

I'm sure D96 follows sports he hasn't played or played on the collegiate level, and yet he is opinionated on them.

I can have an opinion on politics, having never been a politician. Terrible logic.

The holier than thou, I'm right and you have no idea what you're talking about shtick is old. Get over yourself. You're either approaching 40, or north of it. Stop holding on to "accomplishments" you had 20 YEARS ago as a means to justify that you are an expert on the field.

If he only knew that the majority of front offices in professional sports are run by the nerds who NEVER played.

This kid would be a huge get, IMO. I know it's limited footage, but this kid is like Cremo on crack ability wise. Seems to possess good basketball IQ as well but then again these are only his good highlights. He's probably the 2nd most athletic UA or possible UA player I've ever seen (behind Suero) in the 10 years I've been following this team.

He would be a very good get. Plays in a tough league. Really good hoops in that area of S. Florida.

Based on the video, he does look like a great get. The thing that I notice first is how quick his release is on his outside shot. Forget the athleticism and the dunks they showed. The AE has had some athletic freaks, but you don't see that kind of release in this league that often. I'm surprised he doesn't have more higher level offers. I would love to see him come in.

Anyone have any info on Jakub Mijakowski? I know he was highly thought of when he visited, but I have heard nothing about him other than thoughts he might go to GCU?

I also wonder how many recruits scan boards like this one when choosing schools...

Per the Detroit Free Press, Michigan's Spike Albrecht (PG) is transferring for his 5th year as a graduate student and wants to go somewhere where he can play and not sit the bench. Why not us?

Didn't he just recently retire?
That is what I thought too but apparently not according to his father who was quoted in the article this morning. Edited by UA_MA_2000
