For those who forgot we have a 2nd team player , and 3rd team player , a Defensive player of the year and a rookie of the year.  I agree the talent is not great but there is some there.  Today it's coaching .

Oh please....you two polyanas and pretend coaches are the HOF equivalent on the basketball side. Yeah he's telling them not to run sets...except for games then win when they run sets ...it's a talentless team that can't execute anything basic in terms of gameplan. The question that needs to be asked is why hasn’t there been an upward arc in coaching? First time out as a head coach, I get that. Defense is great. The rest ought to be improving by the time you get 30 games in, right? It looked like a capable group of assistant coaches. Why does it seem that the learning curve stopped dead? Or it it just that the players have failed to grasp what they are being told? Or just that they are that untalented?

Haven't been able to watch much as ESPN keeps freezing on me during practice I'm coaching, but it would see that 15% from the floor including 11% for 3 is a recipe for a blowout loss even if they play incredible defense.

Correct.  The last two games have been poor coaching on the offensive side.

I would say a combination of all 3 . Some on this board believe it's all lack of talent. But that's just not correct . We need to give Killings the year because these are not his guys. Let's see what he does next year.  That will be a telling point.

Now the 2nd half has not been coaching, just really bad bad players.  They have done a much better job, getting the ball down low, getting cerutti open looks (running plays for him). They just stink. So we can give the coaching staff credit for at least doing something.

Honestly, thus far I can’t recall a performance this embarrassing in UA playoff history. So that means they could still turn the game around in the last 15.

OMG, that's it for me after Champion can't even hit a layup.  17 pts with under 15 min to play in 2nd half!.  A complete embarrassment.  I guess the only other fans more disappointed than us is Boston College fans.  They watch this and can wonder how on earth a Power 5 team lost to UA.  Trying to throw in some humor but I am not laughing right now.

Agreed, and with the transfer market the way it is, you should be capable of building a team--and almost have to--immediately. 

Look, two things can be true: 1) Lack of talent, which is EVIDENT.  When a D2 kid (who is one of my fav stories ever) is literally your most consistent weapon (Horton is not consistent, but has improved) and you have zero offensive talent on the block...you aren't going to be very good; and 2) A first time coach can not have the instinct/skill to make the adjustments on the fly.  

Doesn't mean that Killings can't improve both...but I also think he needs an X and O guy as a top assistant  He doesn't have that: Hamlet Tibbs is a recruiter; Matt Griffin has potential but is fresh out of the high school game; and Dannton Jackson (even as a HC at NAIA Xavier) was known as a defensive and not offensive mind.

 

That being said, we ARE 100% running plays this half and moving the ball a lot better. The team just cannot score and are missing bunnies.  THAT IS TALENT, or lack thereof.

These adjustments should have come in the first half.  

All said, today is not our day.
