I gotta say I wouldnt be surprised if Chartwells or Coca-Cola is involved in it somehow, because their presents on campus is big.

Besides that, if you got corporate naming rights coming involved, you know dang well where that money is going to ( cough...football stadium...cough)

It would be nice if they picked a name that resonated with the student body. When sold out, the RACC is actually a great place to play, in my opinion. In fact I'd rather have a sold out RACC than a fancier arena that's half empty all the time.

p.s: you want to keep students out? Name it Chartwells Arena.

I thought I could keep it a secret for longer than this. We ponied up for the naming rights and it will now be the Big Purple Fans/SSS Arena.

Seriously I think "First Albany" would be a perfect sponsor and they have tons of money.

Realistically I'm expecting something related to Dr. Hall or Doc Sauers. Personally I would expect something other than the RACC being named for Dr. Hall.

Anything else should involve $$$ and then I would want to hear an announcement of adding more chair backs for 07/08. Any extra $$ should obviously go to the football stadium.

You never know... maybe there has been a big basketball specific donation.

Tomorrow I would also like to hear them announce a number on total season tickets sold.

Let's name it the Times Union Center in honor of all the coverage they provide us.

Oops, I forgot. The name's already taken.

Seriously, their coverage has improved considerably the last two seasons.

Naming it in honor of our recently deceased President would be very appropriate, just as long as the powers-that-be don't name it Hall Hall.

Honoring Doc Sauers would be equally appropriate. Imagine opponents facing a hostile sellout arena; in other words, playing before a "Sauer crowd." That image just evokes the idea of "revenge."

Believe me, I am a huge Hall fan...and something should be named for Hall. Truth be told, it was DOC SAUERS THAT BUILT OUR PROGRAM....not just hoops...but as an ambassador for UALBANY for nearly 50 years now.

It most likely will be a corporate name, however if it were to be named for a person....SAUERS WOULD BE THE ONLY ONE FITTING AND DESERVING.
