In the Football video about the first day of camp, Coach Gatt mentioned how important it was for this team to not only represent the school but the whole city of Albany as well.

Clearly he's trying to engage the entire community, which is fantastic. My question is, with tickets now on sale, are those of you in the Capital District seeing any more extensive efforts to engage and put asses in the seats?

I just looked over the seating chart and it looks like there are more than plenty of seats available (granted its about 3 weeks away).

A week ago I was driving on I 90 near exit 4 or 5 and saw a University Athletics Advertisement. I think both coach Gatt and President Jones realize the opportunity in front of them. If I was them I would give free tickets to ever football player in the capital region. Whatever money they lose in ticket sales they would make up for in concessions. The university in order to have a successful following must have the support of the locals in the area. Any successful college program has more support from locals than students. In addition the free tickets act as a long term pipeline for local athletes to stay in the area.

Announced on TV-13 sports tonight, the coach's show with Rodger Wyland will be on Saturday mornings at 11:30 on WNYA MY4, TV-13's alternate channel. First show on August 30.

IMO too close to game time to use this show to alert the public that they should come out to the event, but better than no show at all.

I'd like to see the U dropped as well. I don't think it was added until the early 2000's?

It was a little before that (by '99) but wasn't on the helmets until 2004. Agree 'UAlbany' should only be used in a headline or first reference where we might be confused with Albany High or the various minor-league teams.

The "U"? Sorry I just chuckled when I saw it mentioned againnn. We should have threads just pinned on the everyday UA fan complaints that come up in threads not on the topic. How about a redo logo pinned thread too, that one comes up every so often too. Half being serious half not...

Sorry, I was just going to answer '08 about the use of the "official informal name" and I got carried away.

DHC's a rookie, so maybe we should have a whole list of topics that have been beaten to death

Time-Union sucking up to LCC (that's Loudonville Community College, DHC) and the lack of initiative by the T-U's UA beat writers.

Sen. LaValle favoring Stony Brook for athletics facilities spending

Buffalo doesn't play well with others (though we play them in football next year).

The basketball game with LCC always being in downtown Albany

The NanoCollege screwed us

Anything else? At least we don't have to complain about a less than high school-level football stadium any more.

lol love it!

However although people won't complain about high school level stadium, but they will complain it's not FBS looking fast enough even though we're FCS...where is our full bowl seating!?

Welcome to the board DHC! No worries.

This mornings tu posted our average football attendance for 2013 as 6876. I asked this last year, but never got a response; does anyone know if that # [number not hatch tag] include +11000 and +10000 for grand opening & homecoming? Or are we credited for only 8500 for those days??? On both occasions we reported a sell-out of only 8500 (even though there were considerably more in attendance) for reasons which I never fully understood.
