I think any team at our level would be pleased with MJ on their roster. Good kid, tough defender, tireless motor….sorry to see him go….especially to THAT team.3 points

It’s sad this crap continues in our game by fools like #16 on Merrimack. I’m glad that their AD did immediate investigation & kicked him out of the program postgame as well as apologized to our entire locker room. That team is pretty classless in both games we played them since they came to AE. They are leaving for MAC next year good riddance. You win national championships at D2 level act with some sort of class.3 points

Honest question..who's left in the program. Adnan, Redish, Newton and two walkons. This is insane LOL!3 points

If he had an Empire Scholarship isn't that just budget management? The kid goes for free, so why not spend the money on outside of NY players.2 points

To his credit he's worked himself into a viable D1 player but he will always be a good role player. Which is perfectly fine2 points

Chuckle all they want. They picked up a boardline D1 player. Have not been to the tournament in 15 years. Lost to us by 30 last year. Their atheltic department as a whole is an absolute failure and could not even hold our jock strap.2 points

Watching roster construction around the AE is starting to feel like Fantasy Sports. We are in the 4th round of the draft after everyone selected their keepers - LOL2 points

Have signed two rightside and two leftside Def. Ends AND will be signing three more LB's that are May graduate transfers. No names but they are looking at some good ones. Coaches tell me that most of the the teams in the league lost key players as well as us [so did Idaho by the way - our week three opponent - their QB among others]. Players want to come to UA becasue of last year's successes.2 points

We have an onsite visit report "sighting". 6'7 kid from Iona coming up this weekend. Will be a sophomore, from London, U.K. and...shocker...he played HS ball in Philly. (Really good Catholic league school). Was pretty highly recruited out of high school. Played only 14mpg as a frosh averaging 3ppg and 3.2 RPG. Sultan Adewale His big offensive performances came against LBSU, Buffalo, Fairfield, St. Peter's, Rider, and St. Francis. Interesting player...a bit raw in some areas but he has some solid potential. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbgC69uJL2w https://twitter.com/SultanAdewale122 points

Until I find out about some problem with how he was treated by the coaching staff that warranted his leaving the team, I'll agree with dslyank on this one. Any player that would walk out on his team because he was punished for something or didn't like how things were going, instead of stepping up and being a man and correcting the issues and leading the team, has no spot on any roster of mine. I don't care if he is Michael Jordan talent wise. Someone who would walk out on the team is a cancer, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. The above said, that feeling is with the assumption that he quit because of game plan and/or because he was benched/punished for something. If there was some form of actual abuse from the coaching staff, then that is a completely different story that needs to be told for the good of the program and to make a change at the top. Until the whole story is out, he is just a weak quitter that needs to be gone.2 points

Not sure the announcer for UMBC is a reliable source; but he was promoting the opposite several times yesterday. Claimed one or more of the league blue bloods could be on the outside looking in this year for the AmEast tournament. Not saying he is right, but he was praising the league heartily. On the other hand, while praising the current UMBC coach, he was saying UA and UMBC have played some of the greatest games of all time. Again not arguing that , but pretty sure many of the games he referenced were with UMBC former coach I believe. Personally, I cannot say if the league is weak or not this year, but it does seem pretty balanced overall, more so than ever perhaps. For a 5 or 6 year period UA pretty much crushed "everyone" in the league. No one has done that since or perhaps ever? So was the league weaker than or was UA just in a league by themselves ??2 points

Was Marcus Fillien on a free ride regardless? Youre playing D1 basketball and you are going for free..not "officially" giving the scholarship helps your team bring in another out-of-state player. Thats a no brainer to me.1 point

You guys like him more than I do. I thought is defense was good. Not great. Fouled a ton. Offensively, he can't create his own shot . Not a great shooter. He hustles. Which is great. To me and I understand its my opinion but he is a 10 minute player on a D1 team.1 point

can not say since it is a rumor - verified by more than one source..................Just remember I said they were looking at a Big Ten Transfer QB.............before there was an offer or commitment........ Rumor has it that there MAY have been a Massive Donation to Athletics.......... That's All Folks..1 point

Racism should never be ignored. Lyle did NOT ignore it, just let his play be his response; and obviously has talked about it often throughout the years to educate and teach. I am sure your quote was NOT condoning Racism, just commenting how the current players involved handled it. IMHO UA and the team pretty much handled it appropriately. Sometimes one must "walk softly and carry a big stick."1 point

MAAC Golf Championship results Since the Crosstown Challenge rematch was cancelled, Albany completes the entire academic year undefeated over the Loudonville school1 point

The game announcer acknowledged the UAlbany contingent and their ability to make themselves heard. Shout out to the moms, dads and families of UAlbany MLAX.1 point

I agree. I think they go into MAAC next year. Very poor decision by America East leadership to take them in for these 2 years. Interesting aspect yesterday was that audio (outside of the announcer) was clearly from the UAlbany section.1 point

Merrimack is a huge game . Great danes win would be sole possession of first. A Merrimack win would be a messy 6 way tie at 4-21 point

Myles (has a really fast pass release) and Trey (very loose) are both looking good. There is a walk on too, don't have the name yet. Freshman can really throw the ball! BTW Reece was visiting the last couple of days. #2 from what I hear!! UA had 4 on official visits at practice yesterday, 2 DB, LB and Punter.1 point

With those two back you have something almost no matter what. However a freshman that averaged 3 points a game (even though could very much improve) does very very little to move the needle for Thomas and Marshall. Would need to bring in high level senior talent for a shot to have them come back.1 point

I know it's a common assumption that once a kid is in portal he's gone but if he can re-recruit Thomas and or Marshall you have something here.1 point

There are so many kids in the portal everywhere, it is absolutely not sustainable. 40% of players in the MVC are in the portal for example. Transfer Portal1 point

I would say at this point ....no one on the team right now would start on a .500 D1 team. Not one. I believe there are 13 D1 scholarships. If im a D1 coach at this level I'm recruiting Jr's and Srs only. Freshman and sophomores are younger , less developed and will leave before they reach their development. Maybe it's a generational thing. To me it has to be the no "I" in team and the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the name on the back. Sure, go get yours when the season is done. Do what you have to do to be successful, but in the season your teammates are your family. Your coaches are your parents. There may be discipline and tough love, but it's only to make you a better person and player. Sure your brothers might piss you off, but you have a commitment to them to remain family and overcome challenges together. To quit when the going gets tough means you are weak and putting yourself before your family. It takes a pretty abusive relationship to make leaving your family in a bad place acceptable.1 point

The lot on Grant & Phillips off Madison Ave has always been free and empty. Been a while, so do not know if still the case. Can also get into this lot by empire plaza ramp. Go all the way around the plaza U-ramp; do not enter any of the Plaza ramps. There are 2 or 3 gates on each side of the U. Just after the last entrance is a ramp into the GrantPhillips Garage. Also an entrance on Phillips off Madison. Not sure the name of this garage. And if anyone knows the name and/or if still free. PLEASE feel free to correct this post1 point
