Not to knit-pick but Bryant “In 2012, Bryant became a full Division I member.” From Google.

The teams started playing Division 1 schedules in the 2008-09 school year.  They will be fully eligible for NCAA Division 1 Championships in September 2012.

They've been D1 for a while but were only fully fledged and allowed to play in tournaments since 2012 after ramping up for 5 years.

I don't ever doubt D96. Guy forgotten more about college sports than I've learned.

Also they have been in the Northeast Conference a conference that most on this blog have blasted for years. Whether you agree with sentiment or not; NEC does not exactly qualify Bryant as D1 powerhouse.
I do acknowledge that as  DII they were a major soccer power and may even have a national championship or two (maybe women’s?) Also I maybe wrong but pretty sure some of their sports continued to compete in DII even after 2012.
Anyhow I maybe wrong on all of this & not trying to start & argument; but I found these announcers very offensive in the short time I listened, so it was my prerogative to not listen.

ps of the 30 “NEC” conference championships 15 from swimming, tennis & golf. Only ONE (last year) was in basket & 0 football. For a school with almost zero athletic admission standards; IMHO does not make the DI power those announcers were extolling

UA still shorthanded, no update that I've heard in why Reddish is out. Edmead not back yet either. This team showing some life like they might be able to compete in the AE with a full squad.

On the postgame show DK said Reddish was out by "coach's decision," some kind of team standards or discipline, said he has to learn (basically "grow up" is how I read it)

He said he let it slide last year but can't any more.

Can't get through to this kid.  He has to grow up.  Does he think his athleticism or last name gives him carte blanche to misbehave and let down his teammates.  His brother has become a NBA nobody and may end up in the G-League next year.  Aaron may end up transferring cause the coach benched him.  Seems to be common in the day and age.

Only one part of that is accurate.  Playing in tourney eligibility.   They have been full fledged since 2008 from a recruiting perspective.  No different then we were or ‘Merrimack or bellermine.  Believe me, I was at their games.  They had d1 talent.  The transition rule is in place for one  very important reason:  eligibility levels at d2 are less strict than d1.  You can bring in athletes who may not have been directly eligible at d1 when the player was recruited.  It’s why you see d2 jump ups do well in their first years, in some instances.  The ncaa didn’t want that benefit to cause a bunch of schools to jump.

Inaccurate. That just means eligibility to play in ncaa tournament games.  Albany had similar restrictions though I think our transition was credited based on our planned move from 3 to 1.  I think our total transition from D2 to D1 was three years to be tourney eligible.  I could be wrong and it was the full 4.  That said, we played d1 basketball in our first year.

and for the record, quoting Bryant’s  wiki page isn’t a great move.  Their use of the words full fledged is not in the manner you think it is.

I don't know how long Bryant has been D1 but it feels like Miles Latimer has been playing against us since WE went D1 20 years ago.

Who remembers Jahad Thomas at UML, I think that was his name...I believe I first saw him play against us in 2006. Good to see him finally graduate last season.

OK. I'll concede that I'm wrong. D1 for 15 years, got it. Still IMHO in any way you look at 10 or 15 years still "relatively" a newcomer. I also get the transfer portal can make anyone improve/develop quickly {and I admit I hate the transfer portal making it so easy to transfer.} But still IMHO Bryant is far from being a DI power and their homey announcers were over hyping their team; especially since their pedigree is the NEC and only major sport where they exhibited even a little success was lacrosse.

If this is the case, good. I've been saying for some time that it feels like DK needs to become more boss head coach and less friend assistant coach. This is a good start. It's good for Reddish and DK.
